not even paid my 1st month iva payment yet and just had a dentist bill for £200 for work that i cant put off, really fed up as i havent built any emergency money up yet. on a better note i have just found a new gas and electricity deal with n power which is fixed and will see my direct debit amount drop as i also get free gas service with it and have been paying £10 per month for it. will i have to tell my ip now or wait for my yearly review. also does anyone know if i can save my dentist reciept and claim this on my expenses as i dont have a provision in my agreement, something i never thought of at the time

speak to your ip about the bill seeing that you are just starting he can reduce your payments for a month and you have 12 months to catch up the shortfall.as for the small saving in gas electric i would wait personaly till review time others will maybe be different

Hi CJ, this may be a silly question, but have you got any private healthcare with your work? I have and mine includes all dental treatment. Kazzy x

This is a real nuisance for you cj ... I think that it is atrocious the way the government has essentially abolished NHS denal care over the years.

We are very fortunate that we are still with an NHS dentist. He is now semi retired (he is past retirement age and they can only work part time aterwards), I dread to think what will happen when he finally finishes.

I no longer have a dentist as my NHS one retired and the guy who took over does not do NHS work I am dreading anything happening for me to need dental work as I am unsure how I will pay for it, a friend has just had a check up filling and clean and was charged £170!!

That is a lot of money!
Once my dentist does finally finish, if no one takes over from him that is prepared to do NHS, I will probably look at one of these dental plans.
Won't be able to afford it otherwise, and, as I am heading down the slippery slope towards old age, I reckon I am likely to need treatment sooner rather than later.

My dentist retired and then his son took over and went to purely private. Luckily I managed to get another nhs. Though still cant afford the crowns.
