Could i be the 1st to advise that you speak to Melanie who posts on here as she has experience of being in the forces and of all things IVA like!!

Enjoy Cyprus(in 16 RAF years I managed 1 overnight stop in cyprus, sleeping in the aircraft as they tried to fix it)(Herc!!!)(not a J bird, but an old one!!)

You lucky person! I was in Cyprus a couple of years ago at the Eastern Sovereign Base area diving, and what a fabulous country it is. Do make the most of your posting.

Proposing an IVA from overseas is no problem, but does need presenting in the High Court due to the fact that you are in HMF.

An IVA from Cyprus is no problem but be prepared to also pay over most of your LOA!! (I HAD TOO). On another point Jane how do you afford a holiday while in an IVA,???/

Steve I am hoping to be posted to Cyprus this year, did you go whilst in your IVA or did you set it up out there.

I am in my 3rd year now and concerned we will have problems opening a Cypriat bank account due to our bad credit rating.

Well you can try a Pre-paid debit visa card with bill payment facilities if you are unable to operate a bank account in Cyprus.

There is a monthly cost but not that expensive.

And yes you can do an IVA. Visit www.iva.com for recommendations on practitioners who can help you.

I believe that spenmotherhen said in a previous post that she has to have a Cyprus bank account? I'm sure she will correct me if I am wrong.

Davids prepaid card is practically a tenner a month and 50p each time you wish to withdraw cash, so I would consider this only as a last resort (unless you have to pay in Cyprus!) However, it does have bill paying facilities if you need them and can be used as a debit card.
