i get paid on tuesday with my first iva payment due then. have just checked my bank account after my shop for next week and i have got £8.15 left.not much you may think but i am soooo happy . this is the first time in i dont know how many years there isnt a £3000 dr after the balance. i dont have to pay for my shopping on my credit card and then worry myself to death how i am going to pay for it. at first i was ashamed about having to have an iva but now i realise it is a lifeline and in 5 or 6 years i can start again debt free.there will never be a credit in my house again, the same goes for loans for stuff i dont really need, hopefully i will learn to budget for the things i need and my new motto will be-if i cant pay cash then i wont have it.

it is such a joy to be in credit even if it is only a few £'s Like others here the joy of finding bargains is great. I found my husband some everyday trousers in QS for £2 a pair and a biscuit jar in a charity shop for £2.

I don't honestly miss credit or store cards and if I don't have the money we go with out.
Good luck to you

This is a fantastic inspiration to all of us. I am desperate to sign into my bank account and not have a sick feeling before it has even loaded. I remember (not long ago) signing in and praying I was only 2000dr, this I WILL not have again. Even if I only have £1.00 left I will be cartwheeling around the room because that whole pound will be MINE!!

Good luck x

it is great to know what you buy is yours paid for by your money. I too used to feel sick before I checked my bank account or opened any letters. Now my post is circulars and rubbish nothing nasty. ( sorry for those still receiving letters from creditors) Life is hard and sometimes difficult and I worry about the unexpected and how will I manage but some how it works out OK.

Take care

I paid my car insurance today, I would have just whacked it on the credit card and not gave it a second thought until the statement came, then I would have looked at the avaliable amount of credit to spend and thought oh well I still have £2000,what an idiot.[:I]

I am sure we have all done it, its not real money is until the statement comes and they want the money[;)]

What is done is done.

I was the same. Everytime I had a loan to pay off the cards, I wouldn't touch them for a couple of months, then it would be 'just for petrol and I'll pay it all on payday',then it was 'I'll just let it run up to £500', and so on.

I love not having the worry of how to pay the bills, everything is accounted for, and, ok, we may not have a lot at the end of the month, but at least I haven't got to try and make it stretch.

It is great that my post is just junk, and I love not being frightened to ansswer the phone.

It's wishing my life away I know, but I love it everytime I can change my signature on here and put another payment on there. Be glad when it's the last one though!

I almost got into a fight at asda the other night. I was at the cash machine(using my electron card) and at the machine next to me were a couple who were trying to decide which credit card to put into the machine to get cash from. I tried not to but sniggered to myself and the guy turned and stared. 6 weeks ago that would have been us,juggling our credit cards to find money for shopping!!! Thank god we are heading in the right direction now.
