Oh great, just when i though i had chosen a better bank to bank with, they go and get themselves nearly munched by this great ugly beast. Abbey were one of my creditors and they really were ugly. [:D]

They're all being swallowed up, slowly but surely!

Wonder if you'll have to change your bank again Quark?

I don't see why i should have to change banks.I wouldn't get another bank account now anyway.

I don't see why you should either, but just wondering in case it caused problems.

The only thing they can do is shut my account, and that would be rather silly because my IVA contribution comes out of it, and they would receive nothing, well the IP wouldn't at this stage would they ?

They probably won't do anything just yet anyway, I suppose it takes time to sort these things out.

Perhaps Melanie or another of the experts can give you a definitive answer?

A and L are sold off like an auction sale. They commanded £10 a share once now it is 3 quid...a relieve to the FSA but jobs will be lost as in all mergers. Its a hyperbole state of afairs - relieve rather than than a victory- metaphorically not unlike an IVA acceptance

Alliance and Leicester are my business bank and they drive me to despair

They take on average 6-7 days to clear a cheque paid in and 4 days for bank transfers as opposed to three for anyone else

Unfortunatly, the dawdling stops when it comes to slapping fines on the account though[V]

I bank with A&L and Abbey were one of my creditors. Do you think they will close my account? I'm not sure if anyone would give me another account now.

I'm not cross with you at all Quart! Your ranting post the other evening made me giggle!

I would not worry too much about this merger. Santander will write to all of their new customers in due course and let them know how the merger is likely to affect them. So just wait and see.
