Phoned my iva company today to see about claiming the kids school dinner money. Was told it was too late and i should have put it in my proposal. How was i supposed to know? I also didnt know i could have put down dental expenses, didnt realise until i got a £200 bill.I wish i had found this forum before i put together the paperwork for my proposal as i reckon between the both i am paying out an extra £40 per month than i allowed for. My supervision dept said it will have to come out of my contingency, dont usually have any left, or because my hubby does overtime it could come out of my 50%. This would be okay but he has been off sick for 2 months and hasnt earned any.they also suggested packed lunches!!! So use this as a warning if you are working out a proposal make sure you include absolutely everything as is it your own fault if you dont. I now have to wait 11 months until my 1st review and put it all in then. Sorry about the moan but things are hard enough at the moment without realising i am out of pocket as well.

i am sure that an agreement could be reached when your husband returns to work and works overtime surely they would accept you to take slightly more than the 50% to cover the shortfall.the creditors accepted the payments as they are without overtime this is a bonus for them unless they want the iva to fail because you will struggle having to cut into contingency at such an early stage of your iva.what does it say in your report about overtime is it not you keep first 10% then is 50/50?

Hi c.i
Like you I wish I had seen this forum before i took out my IVA as I realise there are things I could have claimed for but either I didn't realise or didn't think about. I also feel that the state of peoples mind when they are completing the expenditure sheet is not always as clear as might be, I know mine wasn't. I also realised from reading the forum how little help I had, no conversation with my IP and no offer of help. But because I didn't know any different I thought that was how things were done--a hard lesson learnt.

I just feel this forum is so great for the support given and the ability it gives to have moan and people understand.

Take Care, hope your husband is better soon.

Hi
If you earn overtime try to argue the increased costs before handing over the full 50%.Maybe you could negotiate to split the cost of the school dinners. You could also argue the increase in fuel bills[car and home],rather than waiting for your annual review

This should have been discussed with you by your IP when the proposals were being drawn up. If you have children attending school it is fairly obvious they need to be fed whilst they are there. You should have been asked whether they have school dinners or take packed lunches - and I am suprised that this was missed out. Which IP firm are you with?

All IP's should be forced to inform people about this site before anyone commits to anything!!! The number of people on here who say "I wish I knew about this site earlier",is unbelievable. Too many people blindly enter into a long term arrangment without being fully aware of whats happening, which is understandable given that we all feel backed into a corner and want to grab whatever help an IVA comapny want to give us.
Our IP seemed keen to make sure we had plenty of leeway(SP) so we wouldnt fall down at the 1st problem.

There is far more leeway under Scottish Trust Deeds than IVAs, plasticdaft. I do both, and the differences down South are quite alarming, but creditors are definately starting to get tighter with regard to expenditure allowances in Scotland. It's time for any Scottish readers to get their TD applications in now before it is too late!

I am trying to get my IP to allow for husbands lunch at age concern which costs £65 for 4 weeks. He now goes every day and has lunch as well as he needs money for other activities they do. He may soon need to take advantage of the other services they provide like bathing as I find it difficult to get him up and showered before I leave for work. If he doesn't go to the day centre I am unable to work and I am not even thinking about that for lots of reasons.
I am just hoping there is some lee way and understanding that things change in our lives as well.
