I don't know if anyone can help me with this, but I thought I'd ask anyway!

As you may or may not remember, I had a pay rise back in May. Clarke Willmott 'forgot' to tell the OR, and due to me moving house I have only just returned the IPOQ with my new figures. My first question is, how long does it normally take for the OR to reassess an IPA?

Secondly (and this is the bit that's worrying me!), when they reassess the IPA what are the chances of them disallowing something that they allowed originally?

Thirdly, the pay rise I received was for approx. £65 a month. I have increased some of my expenditure (petrol for example - it's gone up by 14p a litre since I did my I & E in March) as the cost of living seems to have rocketed. I'm worried that they will disallow the increases and increase the IPA as I would be struggling. Is this likely to happen?

I know that no-one can give me a definite answer, but I'm really worried about this so any advice would be good. I'm worried that the letter from the OR will drop onto the doormat on Christmas Eve so that I can worry about it until the New Year!

I would have thought a letter to the OR explaining the inflation on our lives should be considered and I certainly agree!

I can't understand how petrol prices in Staines and Egham are a lot higher than Wycombe there is a difference of 5p at the moment!

I think it might be best to move first expolaining why your expenditure has gone up and has matched the increase in your monthly income.

By striking first it would give you some control on what is going on!

Just my personal slant on what I think you should do!

Otherwise hope you are OK and hope Staines do well against Peterborough on saturday it will be tough they are quite a useful side!

Thanks Ray. I've already sent the IPOQ back (panicking as usual!), but if they do disallow anything major I'll send them a letter before signing anything.

Petrol is round about 102-103.9 round here with is crazy - it seems to go up daily!

Apart from stressing about the OR I'm fine thanks, and I hope you are as well. I'm looking forward to the match on Saturday - I can't quite believe we've got tickets! It will be tough, but hopefully the magic of the FA Cup will prevail!

Why not call the examiner at the OR's office and explain to them that most of your pay rise has been taken up with increased expenses. If you are able to afford any payment to them at all, let them know how much you can or can't pay. Remember they are human beings after all, just with a not very nice job to do, and very keen to get work off their desks asap. Being pro-active on this one will help make their lives easier and may make them look at it more favourably. Got to be worth a phone call.

Thanks Queenie - I took your advice and the lady I spoke to confirmed a letter is on it's way to me stating that my payments will stay the same. I feel so much more relaxed now!

Hi Skippy, great news about your IPA. And Happy 6th month Anniversay for your BR!!! (least i think it's 6 months - i know it's the 29th cos it's the same day as mine!!!)

Thanks Brassic but it was actually my 8 month anniversary yesterday! Despite everything it's actually going quite quickly. Now I've got the IPA problem sorted out I've got myself a new worry - will I get a BRU?!?

Liz, I do feel more relaxed now - I can deal with things when they happen but I panic when I don't know what's going on. Not that I can do anything about it!

Skippy - why on earth would you think that you could possibly get a BRU? I am suprised that you haven't been discharged by now!

Thanks Melanie, you always make me feel better! I'm was basically told by my IP that due to the size of my debt I may well get a BRU.

I must admit I did hope to get early discharge, and I was a bit upset when a friend of mine (not from this board) got ED - she had been spending up until the month before BR, is unemployed and won't get a job so didn't get an IPA and gets ED!

What utter rubbish! Are you sure they were not trying to bully you into scraping together more payments?

There doesn't seem to be any consistency in the OR's offices with regard to early discharge - it often seems to depend upon how busy the individual offices are!
