If the moderators will accept this post I should be grateful - it is not to do with debt but I wanted to make certain Melanie sees it. Melanie, you and your husband were commissioned officers in the Army; will you please write to yout MP asking him to support the Gurkhas. The Govt lost the vote yesterday but it was not a binding vote and the Govt can ignore it. We have a Gurkhas family here - the ex soldier MC and 2 bars. Great man he is - 91 years old - gets a pittance.

You may find that she already has done.
We emailed ours on Tuesday and have both signed the petition as well.

Fingers crossed she can improve and fight her way through this. You have more than your fair share of challanges at the moment but do remember we are here for you.

Just caught this thread, and whilst I don't normally add my two pennorth to political issues on here I am absolutely ashamed by this Governments stance on this, it is a disgrace.
Feel free to send me a link to any online petition, and I will certainly be dropping my own MP a line on this matter.
Regards.

I have signed the petition and am ashamed to be British when things like this happen. These chaps are fearless, I have worked with them in my previous life, and they make tremendous sacrifices for our country. They are also paid a lot lower than our own soldiers - who are very poorly paid in any case.

How much more can Gordon Brown B***** up. If we don't get shot of him soon we will end up like a third world country. It won't be IVA's we will be needing it will be mud to build new homes.

It seems to me to be bizarre to pick a fight with the Gurkhas when even the most right wing anti-immigrationist has no problem given the services they have carried out. Sometimes I think the current government has a death wish.

I signed the petition when it first went round as I'm disgusted by the way we treat the Gurkhas.
I saw this morning that one Gurkha has died in hospital from a brain tumour and his wife couldn't say goodbye to him as her and his family were barred from the UK. She may be allowed in for his funeral, but even if she is it's too little too late for them.

When I think about some of the low life which is allowed to come into this country and sponge off the state, it makes my blood boil to see the brave ex soldiers who have risked their lives for another country being told they can't stay!
