Hi guys as some of you know my IVA was aproved last week 25/03/08 through DFD and it was a high level £79k = £295 per month. Whilst it was great news what is even more relaxing is the calls / letters have ceased with 1 odd call from nationwide. I feel much more relaxed and back in control. this site has been so inspirational I will still feedback on here to hopefuly help others in the same position Howard

I can totally relate to what you're saying, we've made 3 payments to our IVA approved 8th Feb and I've never felt so relaxed and relieved even through boiler breakdowns/windows broken etc.,. Long it may continue for us all. I also find this site so rewarding to the point that I can post and always get good advice. Lesley

I totally agree.
Ours was approved last month, so i will be making our 2nd payment this month, and although i know there may be tough months ahead and I so bitterly regret being in this debt...the feeling of relief knowing that I am paying what I can back and making a better life for us in 5 yrs time.
I keep thinking I wouldn't have thought twice about getting a 5yr loan, so i try to think this is much the same thing, but we will be debt free...hurrah!!!
My heart no longer drops when I hear the phone ring.

wonderful feeling! I completed an IVA a few years back, and am waiting for the 6 year penalty to run its course. I found this site recently, and just wanted to say to everyone going through the IVA process, hang in there, it really does get better. I am not one for advice, all I will say is be straight. oh and - never ever have an mbna credit card!!
Still finding it frustrating not being able to get credit, and being in the sub prime mortgage market does suck big time, but we are just plodding along.

why would you go for bankrupcy Tina?
It took me some months to settle into the new way of life, but now we're 6 payments in and getting very used to the process of budgeting.Saying no etc.I have found that I'm actually very good at budgeting recently (touching lots of wood!!!)I figure that before my IVA i didn't have to budget really because of all the credit. So I was brilliant at robbing peter etc but never really had any real money with a real purpose in mind and I really like this having to budget and prospect of money running out if I don't.It's made me quite a nagger though and I definately think trice before getting anything.
I too treat it like a whopping loan that will last over 6 years.Fortunately though, I cannot go off track as further credit is simply not an option! Cat

I agree, I would not go for bankruptcy unless I absolutely had to. An IVA is bad enough but at least I can keep my house and car. Having read some of the posts on here about BR it does seem very intrusive and humiliating.
Once we have finished our IVA I will breathe a big sigh of relief, then I will be able to get on with my life.

Can I just say that although BR is a last resort (and I'm not trying to influence anyone) it's not as bad as people think. It's not humiliating and to be honest I found it no more intrusive than when I was setting up my short lived IVA, in fact less so as they didn't want so much information from Dave!
I was asked a while ago on here what would I do if I had my time again, and after thinking long and hard, I would have opted for BR. An IVA was never going to be viable for me.
