Can i still set up an IVA if one of my debts has been passed on to a debt collector?

Yes, that's not a problem. The IP you choose will need to determine whether it's been simply passed for collection or sold but other than that it's not really significant.

Yes you can.

I would estimate that 85% of people I speak to haven't missed payments on their debts, but all that that usually indicates is that credit is being used to pay credit. Personally, I prefer to deal with cases where debts have been passed on, because then there is much less of a risk of the "denial" syndrome. It is unfortunate, but what happens from here on in is the most important thing, if you recognise that a problem exists then take the necessary advice and sort it out before it gets any worse.
