We have received letters today from AMEX after receiving letters from their solicitors on Saturday.
Basically they have asked us to cut the cards up and send them back - no problem with pleasure.
They have also said they have transferred our accounts to a debt collections agent.
It also says in 28 days they are going to issue default notices against us and that anyone in our household maybe affected.
Is this all just standard?[:(]

Hi Emma
Did you send your cards back?
I would have thought I would have had s=to send them to Melanie for some reason?
We have also had a letter from RBS re a loan - I think it is now starting I do keep tempting fate though.

Do we send Amex their cards back?
Angela wasn't well yesterday when I phoned - I hope she is better purely for selfish reasons lol[;)] Only joking it's rubbish being ill when the sun is shining.
We also need to find out how to pay the House insurance? It is with RBS one of our creditors and I am reluctant to set up a direct deit our of our new account - am I being paranoid?

i never sent any of my cards back - i just cut them up one night in tiny pieces, i know at the creditors meeting it was said that if i still had any cards to destroy them, i had destroyed them way before that time! think i became a bit twisted in my head cos i thought of them as filthy things so i took great pleasure in cutting them into tiny pieces!
if my insurance was with one of my creditors i would change companies - thats only what i would do cos i AM paranoid!

Marie
I had already cut up the Amex card so explained I could not send it back and I faxed copies of all the letters to Melanies office.
I had destroyed most of my cards and had to explain to all creditors the only ones I still had were my hsbc debit cards which I dropped into a branch

They always vote no if you are a property owner Barb, but fortunately their debts are relatively low and can be outvoted.

Thanks everyone for responding - been playing taxi tonight - I hate wednesdays. Gets worse apparently.
Melanie do you mean our debts with Amex.
Also what should we do re house insurance which is currently with RBS one of our creditors. Should we just change companies?

Hi
There is no problem taking house insurance with RBS,you are protected by the direct debit guarantee
If you are still concerned use
www.confused.com and choose insurance from a non creditor

Good as it is cheap!
We have had a few break ins etc and the cost went through the roof. RBS were £350 ish where as everyone else was £900 ish. Big saving.
Thanks Andy I will just send the direct debit form back then with new account details. As long as they cannot grab our money.

We have just had an IVA approved and amex were quite high on my husbands and if they had voted no it would not have gone through, so we were very worried, but luckily our IP had numerous phonecalls with them and they did vote yes. We also have a mortgage which they threatened to put a charging order on, no CCJ yet though. When we did not respond as they wanted by paying more to them, they issued papers to make my husband bankrupt, luckily the creditors meeting was just about to be called, hense the numerous phonecalls to them by our IP.
This was my first post, but have been reading here with interest and am glad to have found such a friendly place.
