We notify the Registrar as soon as the Chairman's report is filed at Court - and then you are in the hands of the Insolvency Service staff in Birmingham who actually do the updating. There is no finite timescale, but I am suprised that you are still not on there Barb.

Hi Barb.. we're on, so your court may be a bit slower than ours!! I'm never looking again until to check if removed[:I]

Typically we send DTI notifications out on the day of approval or the day after and would expect the clients name to appear on the register within a week.
If more than that time has passed, try different permutations of your name as it is possible for keystroke error to occur when the data is input, resulting in a mis-spelling.

We can't be found through the court, only by our names, data base is a bit funny really...

Ours was on a week and two days afterwards (meeting on 21st April). Ours is only by name as well, I think that is the only way to search with an IVA. I was gutted because there is no one else with the same name so I am all on my own!

If I'm looking at the register I usually know whom I'm looking for so I will generally select "all Courts" and go by name.

What are the valid reasons for looking at the IVA register, are there any? I mean my IP knows I'm in a IVA so why would they want to look that up - seems a bit pointless, and what business is it of anyone else anyway?

There are many reasons for commercial and professional entities to need to search the Insolvency Register, however this should not extend to people seeking to exploit that privelige for marketing purposes.

I agree about the marketing, but if it was just for searching someone's credibility then that could be got from the credit reference agencies on their secured databases by those people who really need to know.

I use it most days to check registration numbers, OR details or Court reference numbers. None of that information would be available at the CRAs, but I do think access ought to be limited to those who do have a need to know.

have just checked the register again and tried different spellings - but none of us are on there still - should we be worried?

You really don't want to be on there anyway, and if the insolvency service have made an error inputting the information it is their fault.
I only found out about it though the junk mail I got and reading this forum, I was never told about it at the time of the IVA. So you could very well be blissfully unaware of its existence so don't see any problems for you.
It's just a marketing tool for the mail spammers and a source of information for people who wish to commit identify fraud anyway.
Have you tried searching by putting in just the first initial of your surname on all courts?

thanks inaiva
i have tried all different ways of putting our name in with all courts - but nothing there!
i was just worried in case and i know this may sound daft but was it a legality that you have to be on there and if me and hubby arent does it in any way have an effect like maybe are not protected from creditors hounding us! probably me being daft i know!
thanks though you have put my mind at rest
