do you need a degree to be an ip? i think it would be a very fullfilling and enjoyable job helping the needy + creditors and getting paid well into the bargain.I T +computers was once the way to youngsters leaving school but the whole country is up to their eyes in it including me [V]

I may be wrong, so I'm sure the IPs will correct me if I am, but I think to become an IP you have to be a qualified chartered accountant first then get the Insolvency Practitioner thingy! As I said, I may be wrong.....usually am! Viki X

Not quite correct - but you do have to pass some accountancy based examinations first if you are not already professionally qualified in another disctipline, and also have to have completed a certain number of hours of working in the profession. There then follow examinations in three separate subjects before obtaining a practicing license. It all seems so long ago for me now, and I would honestly not like to have to pass those exams again. In my day there was only a 25% pass rate!

I can see by the time you put into this forum alone melanie that you are an excellent ip and by looking at your feedback and all the 10`s i think you would pass them exams easy with distinctions, but i reached this forum to late or you would have been my IP too.I admire your work greatly keep up the good work [^]

Thanks for those thoughts - and remember that the forum would be a very boring place if there were just technical experts posting. I completely admire the amount of time all forum posters put in to help each other - this is a truly remarkable society and I am very proud to be just a little part of it.
