Hi
There is a possibility that I might be getting around £2000 in compensation for a whiplash injury that I sustained in a car crash that wasn't my fault. I didn't have any loss of earnings so I am wondering if I need to pay half of this into my IVA. Does it count as a windfall or bonus or extra income?
Thanks

I would say it would be classed as a windfall, but best to check with your IP.

Hi there.Wait for Melanie or Ian, but I think too it is classed as a windfall/ extra income or in that category rather than bonus .

It's usually classed as a windfall, although it probably doesn't feel like it!
Your IP will decide.
IP's vary in what they call a windfall and what they don't... so ask your IP.
Good luck and I hope the injury is all healed up now!

If it is a personal injury claim, as these are exempt from bankruptcy proceedings your IP may not take any of it from you - but it does depend upon how the proposal is worded so best to check with your IP directly.
