I'm sat here crying right now, not because of the dog being ill or the 1001 things that have gone wrong in my IVA previous! Today would you believe my washer has given up the ghost with a load of washing stuck inside it! It's been on its way out for a while but why oh why now!

The list just seems endless I don't know what to do, not a penny in contingency, not much money to buy shopping with for the next two weeks either as just this month it's £60 at dentist and a new shower, money for vet was taken from this weeks shopping money!

I am despairing that this IVA is supposed to work for me, Melanie if you read this can you help? I am honestly in despair right now and I think this is the straw that has broken the camels back. I just feel such a failure, it's not my fault the appliances have all gone wrong but it also sounds so unbelievable that all these things can happen to one person in such a short space of time, but I swear to you everyone is true!

Oh Lesley poor you. Things like this happen to me as well I have a couple of years with no probs and then everything goes within a few months.
I wish I could help. he only advice I can say is that it might be best to cover any new ones you hopefully get. I had to buy a new dryer and washing machine at xmas and have taken the cover with domestic and general which covers any three kitchen appliances. So I have covered the freezer,which may be soon on its way out, dishwasher as well and the cooker and all for 9.99 a month. i didnt used to take these covers but with the iva it ensures I will get through thne next 3 and a half years without the worry of replacing or repair.(if they cant repair they replace with a new one)

oh ang, thank you, I just am desperate for this run of bad luck to end. I think I'm emotional because of the dog but just want to kick the washing machine to pieces not that that will help the situation with my luck I'd break my foot and be off work with no salary!

I'm just surfing the net to find a cheap'ish' washing machine as I know that cheapest can be false ecconomy, I take your point re the product cover and will certainly be looking into something like that.

My husband said, well it proves we didn't have all the fancy appliances pre-IVA and it's not the reason for our debt when I rang him, to be honest wasn't really what I wanted to hear and promptly put phone down on him! Feeling mean now so might call back but he knows how to wind me up!

I don't know if to buy a new cooker now and save the disappointment of when it finally goes as that is also over 12 yrs old! I tend to keep things for years and I suppose I expect them to last forever, my tumble dryer is wait for it 26yrs old! And still works! Must admit I don't use it often and never have but do look after my stuff and it just basically wears out through general wear and tear. Oh ladyh you've had your fair share of breakdowns too.

Have a look on ebuyer they are quite cheap and quick delivery. Also borsch, sell them with the odd dent which doesnt show but makes tem cheaper.

Oh Lesley - I wish I could help. Life seems to be throwing all sorts at you at the moment. Can you take an IVA payment break?

Thanks to all, nowhere near Reading Sue, lukily it's pretty much up to date as I tend to wash most days. When hubby gets home he'll sort out getting the washing out of the machine and I'll take it to daughters tonight, not that I've asked her yet!

A months payment break might be my answer, I'm still getting around to contacting Melanie as she must be sick of me and my disasters! owe IVA £300 from when boiler broke down, maybe if I pay £300 this month and keep the £240 for a washing machine (sending in receipt), that'll make me one complete month in arrears? I'll talk to hubby then mail Melanie. I am 110% determined this IVA is going to work for me.

Lesley I admire your determination in the face of all that is going on in your life! I think I would have folded by now.

I hope you manage to get your appliances all sorted out soon and that the rest of the year goes smoothly.

Hope the dog recovers soon as well.

Hi , Please dont think that your the only one Lesley .I feel the same as you . Everything is going wrong for us also. We only started our ivas Jan , and in that time we have had car blow up,fridge freezer go bang and we have also moved address . We have struggled in last few mths but i have kept in contact with our ip and told him everything. He has advised to pay as much as we can this mth again and try to make it up by our review. Im really sorry to hear about your dog i hope he gets better soon . Everything seems to be breaking down all at once for us also, and i feel like crying too. So im sending you a cuddle . Rachel x

What a shame, you have had such bad luck with electrical items since your iva was approved, I am sure Melanie will be sympathetic to this situation.

Also do try freecycle as advised in a post above as there are often old washing machines being given away that would tide you over for a while.
