I have just posted off the letter to my IP accompanied by my hubby's wage slip explaining the increase in our rent (due to a forces move) from £117 to £272 a difference of £155. What is the likelyhood of getting our payments reduced to meet the difference, or what are the other alternative solutions, and how long will this all take? As we have to find the £155 difference until a decision is made.....where we are going to find that money from I dont know [:(]

Didn't you say in an earlier post that you had found a job which could cover this increase in expenditure?

Hi there melanie, thanks for getting back to me. I had an interview lined up but decided not to go for it. Going to do a course at uni instead to further my career in the long run. Any idea what the solutions could be?

Then your Supervisor will have to seriously consider the additional expense you are incurring, probably by varying the arrangment. That is a big jump in MQ rental - is there any reason for this?

Thanks for getting back to me. We have been given a house off camp, and all the houses on site are leased to the Armed forces via a private company. what couls be done about it am I right in thinking that they could either extend the term of the iva by a further 12 months or call a variation meeting?

Have you thought about talking to your Families Officer to see if there is any internal assistance available? How does HMF expect families to simply be able to find £155 extra just like that?

Not sure if there is any assistance available, and I dont think my husband would like to advise them of our IVA, as I know debt is not viewed very kindly. Not sure how they expect you to find £155 but they could argue that the children and myself could have stayed at the other house despite the 4 hour commute each way for my husband, no chance of me agreeing to that. Any idea what the options will be, as we were told that one of the supervisors will get back to us with our options????

You don't need to tell them about the IVA - just that you are struggling. It's definately worth a try, and if not then I suspect a variation meeting will need to be called to reduce your payments.

Ok thanks melanie I will do that its worth a try. If that fails and a variation meeting is called for how long, in your experience, can all this take before we get a response, just dont want to be short again for the month of march. We were £100 out of pocket this month because we moved in on the 11th, and now the full £155 down in february, not sure how our IP expects us to live this month, should have some money put aside but what with christmas and our car insurance due in feb, its just not a good start to the month [:(]

Variation meetings could be proposed straight away, or could take several weeks depending upon the workload of your IP. I am sure if you explain how worried you are about everything, they will try and prioritise this for you as best they can.

Just an update on our increase in expenditure....well here we are 4 months on and still not sorted[:(]
Our IP has FINALLY drafted his report for a variation meeting to be held on June 13th ( A FRIDAY TOO [V]) With the hope of them accepting a reduction in our payment from £776 to £620 with an extra 12 months payments. This means only a 2p drop in the £ so fingers crossed.
