Today I received this email from one of my friends. Thought i would post it up on here just to warn everybody. IT IS NOT A JOKE

Just last weekend on Friday night we parked in a public
parking area. As we drove away I noticed a sticker on the
rear window of the car. When I took it off after I got home,
it was a receipt for gas. Luckily my friend told me not to
stop as it could be someone waiting for me to get out of the
car. Then we received this email yesterday:

'WARNING FROM POLICE
BEWARE OF PAPER ON THE BACK WINDOW OF YOUR
VEHICLE--NEW WAY TO DO CARJACKINGS (NOT A JOKE)'

Heads up everyone! Please, keep this circulating... You walk
across the parking lot, unlock your car and get inside. You
start the engine and shift into Reverse. When you look into the
rearview mirror to back out of your parking space, you notice a
piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window. So, you
shift into Park, unlock your doors, and jump out of your car to
remove that paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your
view. When you reach the back of your car, that is when the
carjackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take
off. They practically mow you down as they speed off in your car.
And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car.
So now the carjacker has your car, your home address, your
money, and your keys. Your home and your whole identity are
now compromised!

BEWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED.
If you see a piece of paper stuck to your back window, just
drive away. Remove the paper later. And be thankful that you
read this e-mail. I hope you will forward this to friends and
family, especially to women. A purse contains all kinds of
personal information and identification d o cuments, and you
certainly do NOT want this to fall into the wrong hands.
Please keep this going

Scandalous, this happened to a lady where I live the other night but because she had read this email during the day she drove off, when she felt she was safe she stopped her car to read the piece of paper and it was all gibberish!! This was in a small sleepy market town!!!

That's horrible! I'll tell everyone I know. I lock my car door as soon as I am inside and even if I leave it for a second I lock it. There was a gang initiation thing going on here not so long ago, similar to what you've mentioned but they keep you inside so I'm paranoid anyway.

It's a hoax I'm afriad.

The warning has spawned a number of versions and has been set in several countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States and Australia. Often, the message claims to originate from an official organisation such as a police department, motoring body, or insurance company.

The car-jacking scheme outlined in the email is not implausible. It is possible that criminals could use such a method to steal a car from an unwary victim. However, this degree of plausibility does not mean that such crimes are actually happening. Extensive searches of news, police department and motoring organization websites around the world have offered no confirmation that the car-jacking scheme described is actually occurring. If such car-jackings were really happening in three or more nations, it would be eminently newsworthy. If true, the mainstream media would almost certainly be reporting on such incidents.

I work for the police, and I have not heard of any of these type of car jackings happening in my force.

I don't know if it is true or not, but this did come from a reliable source. If it has been made up then I wish people would find something else to do with their time.

It's been doing the rounds for some time.

It's like all the virus warnings that come round - they are all hoaxes and all they serve to do is block up the email system.

I know I shall probably regret saying this, but I don't seem to have had a chain email for some time. All I do with those is dump them in the trash folder, I never forward them.

That's obviously what I've been doing wrong - if I'd forwarded them on and got all the good luck, I'd have won the lottery by now and not be in this position![:D]

LOL! I don't normally get them at all, this one was forwarded to me from somebody that works in a prison thats why I took more notice I suppose.

I have a friend who works in a prison as well, and she usually sends me loads of stuff like that!

They're obviously either underworked or very bored![:D]

Gosh that is a coincidence them both working in Prisons and sending out emails like that! I think what convinced me was that part of the forwarded message had abit in about a local lady that had this experience so i thought it was plausible. Underworked and bored, I know they have alot of annual leave thats for sure! LOL!!![:D]

Chardonnay it's not genuine. It's been doing the rounds for months. It's always someone local that's involved - trouble is, mine came originally from the States, and that's not very local to me!

It's like the one warning females about being careful at pubs/clubs and parties. It said that the 'in' date rape drug was a horse contraception which knocked the person unconcious but also made them infertile for the rest of thier lives. I get quite a few of them. They are scare mongering but they do have more common sense than truth.
