Hi there and welcome to the forum

Your umemployment makes no difference to the bankruptcy discharge period - it is still one year unless you get an early discharge granted.

I have been advised if your not working during the 1st year in BR they will discharge you and you will no longer be in BR and you dont have to pay the O.R is this correct?

And who has given you that advice may I ask?

I spoke to someone who has just come out of BR due to being unemployed

As a professional insolvency practitioner - my first answer is correct - but it the case that you may get granted an early discharge althought this is not automatic and you have just as much chance of getting one whether your are unemployed or employed - which may have happened to your acquaintance.

Thank you for your help. I did try for a DMP and IVA but due to losing my job it was no possible. I have already lost my house and trying to get a new job because I would like to repay as much as I can if my BR is accepted. I only ask due to the fact I thought it was odd that if your not working you get discharged early and are not in BR for as long.
