Hi all, just a quickie. As a teacher I am due a pay increase soon. Do I tell my IP ASAP or wait for the annual review. It will be around 80 pounds a month I think. Is it usually 50% they take off you? My Dad is thinking about getting me a little old banger to get around in, so could I propose that the increase be used for running a little car? Or would that be a bit out of order to ask?

A quick e-mail to your IP informing them of the payrise ought to be fine. And I am sure that you would be allowed to use some of the increase to fund car running expenses.

Check the terms and conditions of your own IVA,look at the chairmans report.
Some IVAs and IPs will expect all of the payrise to be paid into your IVA,less increased expenditure[so a car would gobble this up]as long as your payments are not affected all should be ok.
The 50% split is usually for overtime payments and not annual pay rises

your telling me Soulgrowth!! Its not like we don't work ourselves ragged!! However can't grumble as the holidays are fairly good!

You more than deserve and need those holidays! I lasted three months teaching in secondary school, and decided that life was too short!

Much prefer higher education ... although the students are getting more and more consumer driven with attitudes such as "I've paid for this course so I expect a higher mark for my essay"!!

I love it though, and couldn't think of anything else I'd rather do!

ahhh a fellow teacher! I have to agree its a very satisfying job. Everyday is different and everyday you are making a massive difference to a childs life. God cheesy or what! But true! So are you in IVA blue? If you are what happened with your annual increment?

im going to be having a cut in money due to changing of shifts i gonna be earning about 1,250 instead of the 1,400 i usually get in a month i mailed my ip he said they will have to hold another creditors meeting as i now pay 450 pounds a month my payment would be going down to 390 pounds a month once i change shifts.

I thought IP's could reduce payments by up to 15% WITHOUT the need for a full meeting,in fact without any meeting at all. Your reduction is 13.33% An expert will slap my wrists and correct me possibly but I think I am right.

Only if the IVA proposal provides for it plasticdaft. Things are quite different South of the border!

Rockstarloz.....we are due our annual review so will be adjusting I & E figures anyway. Nice to see another teacher too!
