For those of us who pay our council tax and water rates by Direct Debit, there are obviously a few 'free' months at the end of one year and the beginning of the next.
Are we allowed to keep this money, or do we have to pay it across?

You keep it !!
Some proposals will show the annual amount divided by twelve and others the ten monthly payments.

Yes it's February and March's payment for me so that'll be a bit of a boost which I hadn't thought of until now. x
