I've fallen out of the back door and ripped my big toe nail almost right off, me a teetotaller too! No blood nothing, although going very black as we speak, throbbing but apart from that no pain, looks awful, really gross. Anyone done anything similar, the big toe itself is swollen as I can't bend it but surprisingly not much pain at all.

The nail is totally off down one side but I'm not brave enough to prod and poke, me being a wimp and that. Not sure if I should or if I dare go Dr's tomorrow! Hubby just wonders about infection x

Lesley, hope you're ok. Where's Chardonnay when you need her!!!? She'll be able to tell you what you need to do. Sounds horrid though, I don't do nails (or eyes) :) Kazzy x

I've taken my toe polish off now was wary but managed it so that in itself looks weird to have bare nails. Hopefully she'll be on later. It feels like one of those cartoon thumbs that has been hit with a hammer, throb throb throb, going to be a long night I think!

If you have an A&E near you Lesley I'd advise a visit. toes can be funny critters if not looked after ... I lost one of mine due to stubbing it and ignoring it. Still ... I can wear a smaller shoe now [:D]Joking aside though, best to get it checked out

I broke my big toe about a year ago when I dropped a table on it ... nightmare, I couldn't drive for three months![:(]

It's never been right since ... and I can tell the weather by it ... it starts aching and twenty minutes later it rains!

I slept all night and this morning doesn't seem too bad, not a good look for sandals for work but I'm not going to attempt shoes so they'll have to put up with how it looks! Thanks everyone and hopefully I'll pop and see triage nurse today and let her assess it. x
