Having been good for the last six weeks and ordered Tesco's to deliver I have managed to save about £20 a week -this week cos I am off work I decided that I would walk into a supermarket ...... I went on the websites before I left home to establish the best deals - I thought Asda for a change!
I went armed with my list and £55 in cash - everything on my list and two extra things - shaving gel for him and deodrant for me!Got to the check out and it came to £73 ! Paid over my cash and used my electron card for the rest - rather than the embarrassment of having to put stuff back that in any case we needed as it was on the list!

When I got home I went on Tesco's web site and input all that I bought - even with delivery it would only have come to £64!

Whoever said ASDA was cheapest ! Oh well the extra £18 spent on food this week, means that there will be no trip to the pub this weekend for our well earnt three drinks! Will have to make do with a box of country manor wine for £4 instead!

This really must depend on what you buy,coz we have tried tesco and find it always more expensive than asda. I prefer tesco,but we always seem to spend a little more,even when armed with the "said list".

Our TV guide magazine this week has a list of £5 jamie oliver meals for monday through to friday,may have to try them out.(although sainsburys costs an arm and leg more than anywhere else(except M&S)

Plasticdaft - I've tried some of those recipes ( and I can't cook) they were great. I don't find sainsbury's expensive to be honest, I like the quality and the availability.

I've always found Asda cheaper than Tesco as well. I filled a trolley on mysupermarket.com and Asda were the cheapest, followed by Sainsburys, Ocado and then Tesco. I do my shopping at Sainsburys as it's closest to us and I prefer their own brand stuff to Tesco and Asda. Also Harry will only eat Sainsbury's cat food so I have to go there anyway!

I shop at Asda and find it quite cheap, I don't know if it's because I know where the stuff is that I buy and don't have to look around the aisles picking up stuff I don't need. They have quite a few special offers on at the moment which comes in handy. I've noticed the prices going up every time I go though, you could get 3 packs of their sausages for £5 a couple of weeks ago, now it's £6....

Worth buying the News of the World on sunday for the £5 off voucher on a spend of over £30 at Tescos. I have just read up on it and there is nothing to stop you buying £30 worth, getting the fiver off to be followed by hubby/partner etc with another trolley with £30 worth and another fiver off, or 3 or 4 depending on the value of your weekly shop. Means buying 2 or more NOTW newspapers but seems well worth it to me.

Oh the embarrassment of buying the NOTW!

I went to Morrisons the other day and saw they had diced chicken breast for 50p......what a bargain even though it was only a small package, approx 6-8 pieces!!! Got to the checkout with my 6 packs and the cashier told me it was limited to 2 per customer, not enough for a meal for my family of 5!!! There's always a catch to it....

There was meant to be a voucher in last weeks paper but there wasnt(in scotland anyhow),so make sure the voucher is in there. 2 papers cost £2 to get you £10 off,£8 saving isnt to be sneezed at,and you could always blow it on a nice bottle of plonk[;)] or a sirloin steak!!!(or some nut loaf if you are a veggie)(doesnt sound quite as nice though).[:D]

i get the news of the world and work also get it, so i have the two vouchers and thats what we do 2 trollies 2 seperate transactions but a saving of £9 because i dont buy the work one.[:)]x

Branston Beans are a bargain at Asda at the moment - 4 tins for a pound!

Nothing extravagent on my list I can assure you - salad, mince, turkey steaks (not chicken as too expensive), smart price tomatoes, smartprice this and smart price that .....£73 - couldn't believe it!

Back to Tesco's to for next week! We all have own preferences, mine is Tesco's!

I do support my local greengrocers, who is doing roaring trade thanks to reasonable prices and good old fashioned british customer service, a paaaand a bucket and all that. I do hope some of you can find one near you to support, The supermarkets do my head in with their prices. Milk gets me and how expensive it's got, the farmers still get next to nothing for it aswell#13;#10;

Like Wizzard my best shopping is done at Aldi, even my little four legged friend has got used to the food they supply and it is cheap too. I was told that the government guidelines at £30 per week for food is this correct as i spend 10% of that on just two items, these being bread and milk. I have now dusted the top of my bread maker and getting home made bread for a lot less than it costs in the shops therefore making a saving thankfully, i would like to see some of the MP survive on a budget of £30 a week and eat according to the guidelines.
