What is the longest period you haven't paid creditors before implementing an IVA and when do they start getting vicious?

Hey Ben, I have missed five months now and the letters and phone call aren't nice, but they weren't nice from month one really. I've also had a debt collector out, but I was unlucky as this is very rare. Hope that helps but everyone's experiences are different and the sooner you get something sorted the better. X

There is no set timescale - as this is entirely in the hands of creditors. I have seen people take almost a year to propose their IVAs (obviously for good reasons!) and creditors take no action, and I have seen creditors move to start charging order action as soon as a client advises them they are thinking of proposing an IVA.

ben, just don't give in to their bullying tactics. They will try anything to get you to pay.

From initial phone call to creditors meeting our timescale is about 9 weeks...so the most payments we have missed is 2.

Our situation is a little different as we didn't have missed payments on unsecured loans/credit cards. It is only now we have been repossessed due to stupidly high mortgage rate that we even qualify for an IVA as our previously secured loan is now unsecure.

Our mail is redirected and to be honest only our banks know our new address (phone No is ex directory). The mortgage co clearly know we are no longer there as they kicked us out but even in the mail coming to us via redirtection they haven't asked for our new details..so I haven't given them to them.

I hope that the IVA will be given the green light a week on Tuesday and everyone will be happy..if not we will have to go BR and so yes, we will have quite a gap from last payment!

I have a collection of telephone numbers now which I store under the name spam on my phone so I know it's for debt if I see the name.
I normally don't answer these calls but just not sure that is the right tactic.
All my creditors are aware that I am entering an IVA, some of the have stopped calling, some are only calling on a two-weekly basis to get an update and some (Egg) are persistent and are calling my at work now.
Others (Cahoot) have not bothered me at all.

Ben, I never answered the phone at all, until the day my IVA was approved.

Are they phoning you on your works phone? If so, just tell them that you are not allowed to receive personal phone calls, and they could cause you to lose your job.

They will continue to harras you though.

Yes I have had a couple now phoning me on my work phone. i find it quite annoying as if I am not at my desk they leave messages with my colleagues.

Hi
It may be better to answer your calls and just update them. Most call centre staff are only interested in getting a payment from you so just be firm but polite and state that you are taking professional advice with regard to proposing an IVA,leave it at that

Presumably, they just say who they are.

Tell them you are not allowed calls at work, they should write to you instead.

Yes they say they are so and so from this and that bank. It doesnt take much to calculate what is going on if I get messages from different banks.
Thanks, I will try these tactics.

ring up one day and change the works telephone number to something else, they wont know its false til they try ringing it and the old one will prob be deleted.
