An IFA did some work for me three years ago. I have never received an invoice from him despite my repeated requests in the intervening period. But he still reminds me I owe him money whenever I bump into him. I keep asking for an invoice but still no joy. Is there a statute of limitaions on receiving invoices for services rendered?
Thank you
Richard

Unusual question but I am pretty sure that it would be statute barred after 6 years.

Thank you for your answer. I'm not sure I understand however. Does this mean he can invoice me up to 6 years after the service was provided? Thanks

I think that is what he means.

That is correct in as much as the debt becomes "timed out" after 6 years.

I don't think that that is right. A debt is due when the agreement to create the debt is struck, and is not dependent on the receipt of an invoice. Given that you both acknowledge that the debt is due, and the IFA keeps reminding you, the 6 year period will only run from the time of the last reminder. Of course it is incompetant on his part not to have issue you with a payment demand.

Indeed that is right Mel, I should have made that a little clearer so apologies for that.
