During the 5 years of my iva every year that past i got letters from Max recovery. six of my creditors had sold the debt on to them. but they are the only ones of all my crediters who have ever sent these balance letters. just wondering if anyone else have had the same correspondence from them.

Yes, we did too. Again they were the only creditors to send the balance statements.

Max R had bought a couple of my debts by the creditors meeting, and I have just been told they have bought the MBNA debt now, too. I look forward to hearing from them

I get them and the letters are clear, polite and make a point of telling you that there is nothing you need to do regarding the correspondence.
I actually find it quite reassuring to see payments from my IP are really reaching the creditors and my outstanding balance dropping.

If the debt is Sold on does the amount paid go towards the original debt with the lender?

If the debt is sold on then the original debt goes the company who purchases it.
If you fail your IVA then you will owe the original amount, regardless of who owns the debt.
