Hi, I just wanted to know if anyone has any idea if it'll be possible to change our energy suppliers whilst we're in our IVA? We've been in our IVA for almost 1yr (Woohoo!! 11 payments made already!!) but I'm currently looking into our expenses and I've found out that by changing gas/electricity suppliers, we could save over £230 per year. When I've read the small print, it does say that the new company (Sainsburys) will do a credit check before approving the switch-over but would the fact that we're in the IVA stop them from providing us with gas/electricity?
I'd love to reduce our annual expenses but I just don't know if it's really feasible?
I hope you can help!

Hi Erica,
We switched to Powergen online about 3-4 months after starting our IVA and there were no problems at all and the best bit is that we get clubcard points as well - every little helps! (if you will excuse the pun!)its all online and we pay by monthly direct debit! best move we ever did. We used uswitch if that is of any help.

There is nothing to stop you from changing power suppliers apart from the discretion of the particular company you are applying for. If you do change and there is a saving make sure to let your IP know as strictly you may have to pay extra into your IVA although I am sure your IP would allow you to use this money as a contingency budget due to the sums involved.
Best Regards
