I have been posting on this forum for a while now giving details of my trouble with Accuma.

Accuma inputted my direct debit details wrong into the system for my 9th June payment. I received a call from them saying that they would send me another dd mandate to fill in and that my first payment would start from the 9th July. I explained that it would be the perfect opportunity for me to get tyres for my car, brakes done and exhaust as I knew that my MOT in September would fail. Had the works done (tyres from company and the brakes and exhaust done by a friend who is a mechanic who got the parts for me and sorted the car out but didn't charge labour ... although I did give him £20 for doing it). A week later had a call from Accuma saying they had found my mandate and that they would be taking the money out of my account ASAP. I stated that it already had been agreed that my first payment would be 9th July and that I hadn't got the money as I had stuff done to my car. Anyway, after me getting quite upset about this they said ok thats fine.

9th July came and went and on the 10th July had a call from Accuma saying that it had bounced. I said the money was in the account and they said it was probably because it was submitted on the 10th and not the 9th which doesn't make sense to me. I think they input the details wrong again. I said if I get charged for this from my bank would Accuma be refunding me. They said they couldn't guarantee it! So I transferred the money the next day into their account (on the 11th July).

Today I had a call from Accuma saying where was my June payment and that the July payment hadn't been received yet. I said that I had proof Julys payment had gone out of my account on the 11th and explained once again about the June payment and car repairs (which I also put in a letter to them a week ago!). They said I would need to make up Junes payment next month. I explained that since my creditors had upped my payments by £30 it was already eating into my contingency fund and couldn't afford that. They said they wanted receipts of all the repairs which is fine. I explained I could send the tyre receipt but what about my friend who done the repairs. They said a letter from him explaining the repairs would suffice. Would he get into trouble for this?

I am so fed up with this... I have had so many problems with Accuma and I actually feel more stressed now than before I started the IVA. Things are agreed on the phone, I even write letters to confirm and not once have I spoken to my IP. I have spoken to at least 4 different people at Accuma!

Hi
Sounds a little bit of a nightmare.

Ask Accuma if you can pay in future by standing order, this way you are in control and not them. You could get this set up for the next payment due in August.

Isn't that the same as direct debit?

Hi
No,a standing order is a mandate that you set up between you and the recipient[Accuma] to pay a set amount on a set day of the month.A direct debit is a mandate that allows a third party to remove any sum from your account when they wish. This is backed up by a bank guarantee that money is refunded if the third party does not keep to the original agreement.
The plus side of a standing order is that you know the EXACT day and amount that gets paid,so unlike your direct debit problem above it cannot be called for on the wrong day.

Thanks for this. What would happen to my friend if he wrote a letter stating he completed work on my car... would he get into trouble for this as he was doing it in his spare time etc. He would have no letterhead etc.

Hi
I can,t see a problem with that at all.
At the end of the day you will make 60 payments so I can,t see a problem with starting a month late.

Hi Maizie
I would recommend standing orders for your payment, I have my mortgage, council tax and IVA that way because then it's me who has control. If you have internet banking you can make any changes to amounts and dates etc.

Hi Maizie, do you have online banking? If so you can go online and cancel the DD. If not give your bank a call and they will cancel it for you. I would be honest with Accuma - tell them that you are cancelling the DD and setting up a standing order as you are concerned about the DD being pulled on the wrong day.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.

I have been asked to complete a standing order and hand it to the bank rather than to my IP is that correct?
