Can you still have a business and personal bank account ?

Welcome to the forum.
You can have a basic bank account. You should open it with a bank that you don't owe any money to. Avoid HSBC.

To answer your specific question - yes you can have both a business and a personal bank account under IVA proceedings, but obviously no credit including an overdraft must be taken out.

my creditors meeting is next wednesday. I opened a new bank account before i started my IVA after reading posts on this site. I went with HSBC now i read posts saying avoid!!!!! can they just close my account and will they honour cheques i have written

Sadly any bank account provider can close your account. They are unlikely to do so for obvious commercial and publicity reasons though. However, HSBC have been known to close the accounts of people in an IVA. If this was to happen you would be given a notice period and the opportunity to move your account elsewhere.
