Hello,
Hopefully a quick question. I completed my IVA in June 2006. I paid a "full and final settlement" as well as every monthly contribution during the period of the IVA. Since doing that I have not heard from the IP I had the arrangement with. Should I receive something from them to say that the arrangement has been completed?

Also, at what point can I start to apply for things like credit cards?

Many thanks for any comments.

Hello

If you have completed your IVA you should be given a Certificate of Completion.

You can only take credit whilst in an IVA with the express permission of your IP. Once your IVA has been completed you are free to apply for credit as and when you like although your there will be a mark on your credit file for six years from the inception of the IVA which may prevent you from being accepted for credit from some lenders.

Hello Oliver,
Thanks for the reply and apolgies for taking so long to acknowledge your response. I couldn't find where I saved the web link in my favourites and I couldn't remember the exact name of the site!!

Anyway, I commenced the IVA in March 2000 and completed it in June 2006. Do I have to request the Certificate of Completion or will it be sent to me in due course?

Presumably the six years mark on my credit file commenced in March 2000 and not from the date of completion (June 2006)

Many thanks

Vinnie

Hello Vinnie

You are more than welcome. Your certificate of completion should arrive in due course but there is no harm in contacting your IP and requesting this.

Yes that is quite correct. The IVA will register on your credit file for 6 years from its inception and not its completion.
