Hi I have recently been made bankrupt and am having alot of problems regarding my current account with Natwest even though I have no arrears with them or any creditor associated with them. I have been informed they will close my account by someone today so I am looking to open up a basic accoutn else where for my wages to be paid into. I am concerned though because i don't know who will open an account for me. Looking through the site and other web sites i think the only one that would consider is co op but the problem is the bnearest one is a milage away from here so I'm not really sure what to do? Any one got any ideas, would appeicate any suggestions?

Hi r.s,
Sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your Natwest account, you can try any of the basic bank accounts below (who you do not owe money to):
- Nationwide, Flex Account
- Barclays, Card Cash
- Lloyds, Classic account
- Abbey, Card Cash
I would just be honest with the bank you choose and say that you have recently been declared bankrupt and need to open up a new account without any credit facilities attached.

Hi
You could save all the trouble of looking around and go with "Think" banking
www.thinkbanking.co.uk.
The account is open to all[you will be accepted] and can be set up over the net and phone. You will get a Maestro debit card and they offer no credit facilities. There is a £12.50 monthly fee.I use them and think that its money well spent.

I managed to obtain a Halifax Easy cash account with Visa Electron card and this does the same thing as the Co Op cash minder account which I also have.
Another one to consider for using for shops is CashPlus Master card which you pay in and can use for places which do not accept Visa electron. This year they sent me a Gold Card! i find it useful if I want to buy things on the internet!
