i've recently been made bankrupt and I need to know who I can have a bank account with, can you help please?

Have you tried the Co-op? They do a basic Cashminder account with a Visa Electron debit card. You can also try Nationwide but you will need to apply in the branch. They don't have a debit card, but other than that are very good. I think Barclays also have a basic account

You could also try natwest - step account or abbey with a cash card.

thanks, i've already got an account with nationwide, so maybe i will be able to get it changed.

meant to say, i've just recently set up an account with nationwide, as I don't want to re-direct any direct debits, it might be worth having a chat them. thank you both for your help.

Natwest will not allow undischarged bankrupts to open an account. They have also been known to close the basic account of people who have gone BR.

Thats right skippy, my mistake natwest wont allow undischarged bankrupts to open a bank account.

does anyone know if the halifax allow undischarged bankrupts to keep their bank account? i changed my account in preparation of going down the IVA route, but am now going for BR.
