My husband and I need help, I am in debt to the tune of over £40,000 before I met him. My husband is in debt to the tune of over £1000. We need help. I cannot go down the bankrupcy route as we cannot afford it.

Can you please provide a little more information?
Do you own a property? Is there a mortgage on the property?
How many different creditors make up the £41,000? Are any of those debts in your joint names?
Are you currently employed?
Tell it like it is.

As Your husbands debt is only 1000,it may be better to leave him out,If you are thinking of IVA and try arrange an IVA in your name only.

Good morning Shobs,
Welcome to the forum.
I agree with Hara on leaving your husband out of this.
You mentioned on your post that you can not afford the bankruptcy costs which slightly worried me as min iva payments would be in the region of £300. Do you think you would have that sort of disposable income if you were not paying your creditors? If the court cost was the only reason for you not to go bankrupt, I suggest you consider getting help from relatives/friends. Can you please provide a little more information?
Kind regards,
