Rough Day

Some days are good -- some are bad.

Todays been rough .

My Trustee sent me a letter to pass on to the local council, explaing that Im BR and that I will be homeless and can the council do anything to get me a house... well that was nice .. I sent it to the council on Monday.

My Trustee phoned this afternoon, they know that I can stay in my house for a year after going BR, but as I have no chance of raising £3000 deposit for a private rental , even in a year with £80 surplus left after my IPA, thats not enough time to raise a deposit. They are going to go for a possession order asap and want to put the house on the market now .. its a 2 bed terrace .. they want to get it moving before HIPS is imposed on 2 bed houses. Thay say that they wont enforce the 28 days if I cant find somewhere else to stay as they dont want to make me homeless . Och yeah .. and if they get a buyer ?
..hit !

Ok Im a realist, I know its got to happen sometime - I know I cant raise the money in time - hopefully the council will find me somewhere sooner rather than later as I really , really dont want to go into a hostel or a B & B with a 14 yr old, a dog and a cat.
What happens to furniture etc .. I dunno . I know its not worth fighting to keep the house for a year as all it is doing is postponing the inevitable. Oh rap

So the council phoned me this afternoon about 10 mins after the trustee.. they are terrible sorry etc but have nothing for me and cant see anything being available for a couple of years .. once I get the court order and they will arrange for me to speak to an advisor and get me into ... wait for it .. a hostel or B & B ...eck !

I knew it would come down to this but I feel pretty rough -- it looks if the inevitable may come just before or just after xmas .. depends how soon they get the order. ..amn

My daughter is so stressed out shes refusing to go to school, and the ed authority are threatening to fine me ... ugger .

I appear to have developed some sort of weird medical condition called ourettes where I swear a lot but keep missing the first letter ... do you think that I should get medical help ?

Awww Mish. That's rap mate. Well and truely hite.

I know this isn't much comfort, but you have at least created a new ghetto language.

I'm sorry. I can't believe how bad the councils are at this sort of thing. My sister's going through the same thing. And they wonder why people end up living on the streets. [:(!]

Slim pickings on the private rental front round here & raising the deposit is .. hard .. £80 after IPA and struggling .. Im tempted just to stop paying the m/gage but that would be wrong and even then if I didnt pay for 2 months I would only raise £900 .. not enuff .

ugger !

Im going to have a large whisky

Definately stop paying that mortgage now! If it doesn't get you a rental deposit, it might pay for removal or storage costs.

I know that you work for the Police Force. Is there no welfare department or social fund which could help you? And definately explore the private rental marketplace - how much do you think that you could afford to pay for rent? I am sure that you can find somewhere. I think that you live in Ipswich? Is this correct? If so I have had a look at Rightmove this evening and 2 bedroomed properties start from £400 per month to rent.

Another alternative that a friend of mine did was moving into a friends house for a while. She had a daughter and she rented out the spare room for about 5 or 6 months, while she saved up the deposit for a house. It worked out really well. She managed to save enough for a 2 bed flat for her and her daughter.

Might be worth investigating.

Good luck
