Got my letter from DFD this morning to say my meeting is on 8th Feb. [:0]

Bit nervous but am quietly confident.

I don't have to go to the meeting itself obviously, but I do have to ring them 30mins after the scheduled meeting, I take it that is usual practice? There's no mention of needing to be available during the meeting itself.

I was told much the same - my meeting was at 1230 - and I had the result by phone less than an hour later.

I booked the day of my meeting off work in advance to make sure that I could be by the phone all day just in case there were any queries or problems.

Good Luck!!!!

All the best for the 8th fusion, I'm sure you will be fine.

I was asked to be available by e-mail on my date, but actually found out the result the day before.

thanks all. :-)

by the way. One of my creditors is Lloyds TSB. I have a hefty overdraft with them on my current account. Obviously this account could potentially be frozen, and I wanted to get my new account up and running.

I was going to move the remainder of my overdraft over to my new account, so that I can set up my new direct debits and stuff until my wages go into the new account. But was just checking if this could cause problems?

I'm only doing it so that I can pay my essential bills basically. Is this ok?

Why would you move your overdraft to a different account, have you not included it in your IVA, why would you want to start again - already in debt??

I probably haven't explained myself properly. Yes it's all included in the IVA.

What I meant was, now that Lloyds TSB (my old current account) should be aware that im heading for an IVA, could they freeze the account and not let me go up to the current overdraft limit?

I have a new basic account (no overdraft), and would like to start paying essential bills from that one. But until my wages go in next week, there wont be any funds in there to do so.

Or should I just hold fire, wait till my wages go into my new account, and then pay the bills.

Hope this makes more sense.

Its unlikely that they will freeze your account until they receive your proposal forms, I had a £2k overdraft with Abbey and opened a basic account with HSBC, even on the day before the creditors meeting, Abbey paid AOL for my broadband connection!!!
I wouldnt increase your overdraft, can you get an advance on your wages?

Thanks vickir

Unfortunately not, they wont give me an advance. But I could probably last until pay day if that is the advice from this forum.

Hi fusion
Good luck for your creditors meeting. Be aware when you call after meeting there maybe modifications to discuss, so take yourself somehwere quiet where you can concentrate to make the call

Vickir
Be careful with HSBC if you are in an iva as they regularly close accounts of customers in iva's, i don't know how they find out but probably from checks on the insolvency register

Hey Emma,
I did open a Furst Direct account, by my IP said they would freeze it with the IVA, she suggested HSBC then all my Direct Debits could just be transferred over.
Hopefully as its just a basic account it should be fine

I am really surprised that your IP suggested HSBC as they are the same company as First Direct, and are also known for trawling the Insolvency Register and closing the accounts of customers on it.

I think I would be inclined to open another account with a different bank just in case they decide to close it.

Please tell your IP about this as it is common knowledge that HSBC close account for people in IVAs as a matter of course, but she may not be aware of this.

Just one question, when is the first payment likely to be? I'm with DFD.

Thanks
