Hello everyone.
Just thought i would share the wisdom of an MBNA spokesperson and obviously let everyone know that our perceptions of IVA's are wrong!
I had a phone call from one of their operators last night.
They said i hadn't paid anything so were calling for a payment. I then advised i had told them many times about the impending IVA. The operator said well that doesn't stop anything. I told if i was not accepted would be looking to go bankrupt so they wouldn't get anything and the response was "We dont get anything in an IVA anyway, i hope your IP has told you that!"
So just thought i would let everyone know!

They must know something about Insolvency Practitioners that I don't know Zoe! I regularly sign dividend cheques for MBNA so I wonder what is happening with the money???

My IVA went through 2 weeks ago (yippee!!)
MBNA were my largest creditor and by far the worst for chasing by phone, letter, debt collectors etc.
And guess what - they didn't even bother to vote and my IVA went through with a 100% acceptence vote.
Maybe that's what they mean when they say they do nothing with IVAs?

Hi Hunter
No they were quite specific, they get no money so it doesn't matter if someone goes bankrupt or has an IVA they dont see any of it!
In the words of Mrs Taylor from Catherine Tate
what a load of old ....

I really think the people that make the phone calls for these credit companys need some advance training. For people who dont really understand the perception of what an iva actually entails that comment would be taken quite seriously by some, and also gives ip's a bad name, are these companys really allowed to tell such blatent lies, and continue to get away with it because i for one if i hadnt found this forum would probably believe what i was being told, and would panic.

Exactly
A few months ago i would not have been able to cope with this with everything else. It is a bullying tactic and is wrong.

I will say one thing for MBNA though - calls etc stopped 3 days after the IVA was approved and have heard absolutely nothing since.
Still getting chased by Barclaycard though 3 weeks later and counting..............

Hi Zoe - good luck with your meeting on 29th, Im sure you'll be fine.
Mercers have been the only creditor to bother me for payments since the IVA proposal was received by all, including a call even 3 hours after the creditors meeting (my iva was adjourned). They just give the usual threats of passing it onto another DCA etc and I must pay them a token payment etc etc - even despite the IVA negotiations being in the adjourned stage!

I had my IVA approved 3 weeks ago, prior to that MBNA were a real pain, repeated phone calls trying to strike private deals, informing me that IVA's were not legally binding, etc.
The day after my IVA was approved, a lady from MBNA Insolvency Department rang me to say they were aware my IVA was approved, they had voted in favour as they thought it was the best deal for them and that all phone calls would stop immediately, she then wished me the best of luck for the future.
Just hang in there, the phone calls are coming from call centre people who are obviously on commission, the people who really count are the ones who vote at the creditors meeting.
If your IP has done their job correctly, MBNA will agree if they think it's the best deal for them, I honestly thought they were going to vote against mine after all the hassle they gave me, it seems they will use all sorts of tactics to squeeze payments out of you, but common sense does eventually prevail.
Hang on in there , and 'Good Luck' [:)][:)]

I had a phone call from MBNA last night, was thinking Oh here we go but to my suprise spoke to a very nice lady, asked if I had my creditors meeting date yet, asked if I had considered their offers, said I had but they were not the best soultion for me, she left it at that asked what I would do if my IVA proposal failed, told her I'd go Bankrupt, she thanked me for my time and that was it.
That kind of phone call I can deal with, the beg, steal or borrow but pay us conversations I'm having with Morgan Stanley are another matter.
Good luck for your creditors meeting
