I think they work for some, and not for others. It was the worst thing i ever did but if you choose your company wisely and seek independant advice (all stuff i didnt do!) then i'm sure it can be a good thing!
Thanks

Don't panic! - post your situation on here and let the experts give you some impartial advice so that you are aware of all the facts.
An IVA should be not be a bad experience, and if you do your research NOW it doesn't have to be.
All those of us on these forums have such a variety of experiences that if you take advantage of it you could get yyour IVA to work perfectly for you.

I know I may sound negative about IVA's at times, but for some people they are a lifesaver. Debt management plans suit others, while BR is the best solution for some. The key to sorting out your debt problems is to weigh up all the options, and don't go along with the first 'friendly' company you speak to. Speak to 2 or 3 companies, and then go away and consider your options carefully.
My mistake was not considering all the options - in my circumstances I should have gone BR last year. I also wasn't realistic with my income and expenditure, which was the main reason for my IVA failing.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.

They can be fantastic as long as you remember that the ads you read paint a very rose tinted picture and they are not a magical cure

Hi Tinytori
It didn't work for me and we decided to get out and then ran into another problem which we are sorting out. I still like them and certainly because what i do bankruptcy is not an option.
I wish this site was around a few years ago because I would have done a number of different things to the option we went for.
I think you have to be brutal about assessing your situation. I am not a fan of bankruptcy but it is an option for a good number of people.
I would suggest you just look at your situation and talk before you finally decide!
Good Luck
Ray

Hi,
You can't go wrong with Thomas Charles as a starting point. They charge the equivalent of 2 months IVA and guarantee acceptance or your money back. They are totally profesional, understanding and very responsive, and they have a 99% success rate. They find an IP to suit your needs and handle everything from day one until acceptence. The charge they make is worth every penny, you would be paying out the money to your creditors anyway.Give them a call and let us know how you get on.(Just Google them for their site)

Hello,
From my own experience, my husbands IVA was approved and mine was rejected which felt like a disaster at the time but now I'm filing for BR and it feels like it's all going to work out right in the end.
My Husbands IVA is working out just great and it has been the right option for us.

IVAs are suitable if you genuinely wish to pay something back to your creditors, and realise that there will have to be some sacrifices made along the way. The majority of IVA's successfully run their course, providing that they are properly presented and the repayments you commit to are realistic.
