Hi

My husband and myself are waiting for our IVA meeting (this Friday!!) and have been doing our best to keep our creditors informed of what's happening. About a week ago we both received Cap One letters and thought here we go again another demand but instead were really shocked to find they had sent us a letter saying "this is not a demand for payment" and went on to say "they had been informed from our IP about the hearing date and would do everything they could to help us try and resolve our situation and would not be contacting us again for demands". I couldn't believe it. A creditor that really does want to help. True to their word we haven't heard from them since. Shame I can't say the same about Barclaycard and Mercers!!

Most are generally ok as long as they are kept informed.
At the end of the day they are just doing their job and will drag it out till the end.
I wish you all the best for friday and hope everything goes well for you.

Thanks Skint. Really nervous about Friday. Trying to not let it affect my day to day life but can't help thinking about it. We are doing a full and final and if it is not accepted our only other option is bankruptcy but really can't think about that at the moment. I'll post on here as soon as I know the result.

I dont suppose an IP would put your offer forward if they didnt think it stood a chance of being accepted. Try to stay calm and not worry too much about it.

hi there,
We had exactly the same from cap 1 before our IVA meeting. I thought it was really nice. Lets hope all credit companies take the same view eventually. Best of luck for friday. My advice is go out for the day. Me and my hubby were on the beach with our 2 children when we got the call to say it had been accepted, didn't have time to think about it before too busy making sand castles, then had the best day ever when the call came!!
So good luck, will be keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you!

Thanks jasperyogi. I'll actually be in work until 3.30 - just when the meeting starts. I am a teaching assistant to 3-4 year olds so luckily they keep me very busy with not much time to think so I'll just have the 30 mins or so of the meeting to sit it out and wait. I have a bottle of champagne which was given to me earlier in the year so I'm hoping to crack that open to celebrate - not drown my sorrows!

Hi
We have had instances like this before with Capital One.
They should be applauded and I hope that other creditors take note.
Three cheers to capital one !!!

Do not believe what CAP 1 is saying, be cautious it can mean anything - I had a similarily worded letter butthey VOTED NO at the meeting but they had less than 0.1% of the debt..?? But they were outflanked by others.

Full and final settlements are seen as positive so fingers crossed, all of the F and F's mentioned on the forum have been accepted, from memory.

cap 1 sent me one like that then voted no

Empty pockets never held anyone back. Only empty heads and empty hearts can do that.

I too have received the same letter - my creditors meeting is on the 17th September (positive thinking now......) - capital one though I am told send this out as the standard but then tend to not vote or say no - still I am remaining focused and positive!

Capital One were / are one of my Creditors. I liked them because they wrote to me only once - a default notice with a letter setting out a glossary of all the legal terms. They did not wish me well as such but did vote yes at my Creditors meeting.

So I would like to say thanks to Capital One too!!

Interesting tack from Capital One!

It may be that they are looking at what happens to people who have completed IVA's and would want to try and help people rebuild.

I suspect it is a ploy although a helpful one!
