I had an iva (business debts) which was approved in april, & paid out in june, it was a full & final payment of £12k. In the initial discussions i was under the impression that i had to wait 9 months afterwards to sell my house without any penalty, but after ringing today to ask if this was 9 months from either april or june, i was told, as it was paid & closed in june, that we can sell now without having to pay back any money, but im sure we signed something which was being sent to the land registry to put a note to notify creditors if we tried to sell? Im just a bit cautious as obviously dont want to pay back £25k if i dont have to, i will ring them again tomorrow, but am just a bit in shock as i thought id have to wait till prob march? thanks

Hi and welcome.
Do you still have your original agreement? Have a read through to see what it says.
Which company did you do it through?

It was with Grant Thornton, I have what i think is a certificate of completion ( although it doesnt say this on it?) It says
Insolvency act 1986
In the matter of .......
notice that the individual voluntary agreement is fully implemented...is this my certificate then?
It says iva duration 9 months, but then further in says, proposed date of distribution 6 months, but under that, as the funds will be immediately available the deadline for creditors to submit their claim has been shortened to 2 months from the 4 months stated in standard terms & conditions....phew, no wonder im confused? x

I think the completion certificate also states that the IP is released and no longer acting, but it sounds like that could be it. Always better to confirm though. You could always email Karol.

I think that will be your completion letter then. The restriction on your property should by now have been lifted.
Have you checked the insolvency register to see if you are still on there?
Try emailing Karol at GT directly via this:
ivacustomerservices@uk.gt.com and ensure that "IVA Forum" is all that is entered in the subject line of the email.
She will pick up on this tomorrow I am sure.
