Hi Everyone
The sale of the house has fallen through again and six months down the line of being desperate and trying for an IVA I feel I have walked the hardest road and am getting nowhere. I owe approx 32K, my family once offered 15K ish to help. I know this is not enough for an IVA as HSBC are my main creditor. (73 per cent of the debt, roughly) I have a money advisor that has been seriously difficult to get hold of which is not pleasing. I really want to move on with my life, the debt is like a heavy black cloud. I am managing in a DMP but still get some calls and just feel uneasy,I just dont know how long this will take and how many more fall through's my piss off ometer can take. I hate things being so up in the air and really want to get sorted. Does anyone think this would be enough to get a settlement? Would this be worth a try?
Thanks in advance
LILY

I am so sorry the house sale has fallen through - but it is the Spring and people are now starting to look to move so I am sure you will find a buyer soon.
You know my views, I would propose an IVA now based upon a future sale. This would give you 12 months to sell and stop the interest and creditor contact.

Thank you Melanie, I am just so scared of it all. Also it would still take 2 months to go through and I would be a bag of nerves waiting for the meeting. Just the thought of it.

Thanks, I am just on a downer today, its just so on going but I may feel better tomorrow. I just had a horible thought of being in the same situation this time next year, I have already seen three seasons and I just dont want the summer to be the same. Plus Lloyds turned me down for a debit card and I am fed up of having to find a working Lloyds cash machine, I almost ran out of petrol because of it and you know I was mugged recently. I will give that greg pen account a try, when I can find the post and the number.
Hope you are getting on Ok with your stresses.
Love
LILY

Good evening,
I am so sorry the house sale has fallen through.
Also being mugged is a traumatic event on top of what you are going through right now. It can trigger a range of strong emotions that may be hard to handle and can even change over time.
The bottom line is that whatever you're feeling is fine, from shock to anger, isolation and depression, but in every case it helps to open up about it.
Good luck with the bank account.
Regards,
Julia

Hi Lily
Bad news about the house sale but there will be others I'm sure.
I think you should take Melanie's advice and look to do the IVA now based on the future sale rather than wait til you have the proceeds from the sale itself. This would tie in all your creditors legally and stop any interest and phone calls.
I know you are scared and it would take approx 2 months to arrange but what's the alternative? Another 3-4 months waiting for the sale to go through and then 2 months of arranging a short final settlement.
Lily you need to release yourself from some of the stress. Putting the IVA wheels in motion now would bring that release around far quicker than waiting for the house to sell.
You know, as well as the rest of us on here, that Melanie offers very good advice. Maybe its time you took that advice and started the ball rolling to a stress free life where debt is concerned.
Wishing you well
Dave

Thanks to everyone
I am going to meet my family tonight, (feels like I am going to the headmaster) to discuss my 'sins'. An upfront sum was discussed and if its forcoming I am going to try it out. I am due to have surgery on May 2nd and want as least stress as possible. If I could get hold of my supervisor I would ask her to work for me but she is being ellusive right now. Thanks for the support, I really was miserable yesterday. Things do look a little better today and hopefully I will not be 'flogged' tonight. I also appreciate Melanie's advice.
Thanks again

Hi Lily
Sorry dont know about the transfers but dont see why not you would just be transferring to another personal ac. They will tell you straight away if you give them a ring.. Also spoke to them today as found with the new card it did not give you a balance at the cash points, he said they were aware of this and are sorting it out but they are introducing this week,( an addition to the text service something ) an new service where if you text balance it will text you straight back with an up to the minute balance. He said it would be an up to the minute evn if you had just used the card in a shop.
