Hi, this is my first post. In fact I have only just joined the forum, but have been an avid reader for the last year. My IVA started in April 2003, and has just come to an end. No one told me of this place of friendship until recently, so i have managed alone for the best part of the arrangement. I'm just glad now that my money is my money. I guess we all feel the same really. It's nice feeling isn't it?!

I've just received a letter from my supervisor, but it doesn't say it's a completion certificate. It just says that "I should keep this letter safe as it's evidence that my arrangement has been sucessfully concluded".

My question is, is that it? after all the trouble and worry? I wasn't really expecting a certificate like an exam certificate, but something a little more.

I now want to try and get a mortgage. Does anyone have any tips?

Hi wombat and welcome to the forum

I produce certificates which look like certificates for my clients, but the letter you have received is more than suffient as evidence that your IVA was successfully concluded.

Hi and welcome to you.

Hubby's wasnt a certificate as such, merely a letter stating the arrangement had successfully completed and Mr xxx would no longer be acting as supervisor.

As for the mortgage, there are a couple of brokers who post on this forum. Andrew Graveson and welshboy (Tony Parsons) their details can be found on the meet the experts page. Both come very highly recomended on this forum.

Finally, congrats on finishing your IVA successfully.
Enjoy your money now and spend wise.

Good luck in your debt free future xxx

Hi Mrs Skint,

I hope you are well.

I remember how helpfull the advice you gave me regarding DFD and wondered how long it took for your hubby to receieve his 'certificate of completion?'

Hi flozza.
I'm fine thank you and hope you are well too.

The certificate took about 3 or 4 months. We had to nag them for it.

Hi Mrs Skint,

I'm doing ok thank you.

I'll wait to see if I get the certificate within the expected timeframe, if not, I'll give them a push!

Thank you.
