Can you tell me what is allowed as part of your expenses if you enter an IVA. For example what is allowed for food, clothes school things etc. Also I have a personal debt to my parents would that be taken into account as part of my expenses before disposable income? My ex husband also pays child support but very rarely as he is disabled and doesn't work all the time how is that taken in to account. Thanks a lot

Hi Rachel

Most creditors these days use the CCCS guidelines ** with regard to allowable expenditure - and there is a copy of these somewhere on the forum. The allowances change in line with the number of adults and children in the household.

You would not be allowed to repay your parents debt in preference to the other creditors, and Mum and Dad would have to rank equally as a creditor. The other creditors may also ask for your parents to be excluded from the IVA on grounds that they are associated with you - which is unfair but I have to point it out to you.

Thanks Melanie for the reply. I have submitted a form on your website and will hopefully be speaking to someone tomorrow. I have been following this forum for ages but it has taken me this long to pluck up the courage and swallow my pride enough to ask for help.
Thanks again
