I do have to pay for printable stuff unless I do letters at work and print them off there.

I do any photocopying at work as well!

Dave does any technical stuff on my laptop as I have no interest in it whatsoever.

I've got Windows 7 and I hate it - downloading pictures from my camera is a nightmare as it's totally different to XP. Our IT guy at work has said he'll put XP on my laptop if I want it and I have to say I'm tempted. The only problem is I've got Office 2007 which isn't compatible with XP!

Interesting Lesley - I was obviously conned in PC World! I'm cross at myself now as I normally don't believe a word they say in those places!

Just remember that increasing numbers of Microsoft apps wont work with XP as it's due to be unsupported very soon. IE9 for example (even though everyone uses Firefox etc) lol

Windows 7 is nice, fast and with all the features in it i'd never go back to XP in a million years. In fact i've had W7 since it came out and i've yet to have a "Blue Screen Of Death" (BSOD) , which is better than XP ever managed....

The worst bit is finding where things are to start with, but you can easily find them using the search feature on the start menu.

Mind you i have to admit i've got Linux Mint (Geek alert)on one of my other laptops... It's been on for a year constantly and never crashed once...

Animaleyes, my main problem with Windows 7 is when I import photos from my camera.

When I had XP I could create a folder and select which pictures went into it. With 7 I don't get the choice - I can either tag everything that's on my SD card and it goes into one folder (or folders according to the date the picture was taken), or else it gets put into a folder with the date I'm importing the pictures. It's not easy to find anything now!

Do you (or does anyone else!) know any way round this? All I want to do is create folders as I go along, not have to spend ages moving pictures around!

I'm still thinking of getting rid...

I have no problems Skip. I am given the option to create a new folder.

That's strange, it only gives me the option to tag the pictures, which doesn't help!

I have a box come up which asks me what I want to call the pictures and then it creates a folder.

I get that as well, but on XP I could select which pictures went into the folder. Sometimes I have various different things in there, and I want them in different folders.

I know I'm being pedantic, but I like to be able to find my pictures easily!

Must admit that I tend to mine folder by folder going by the date I took them so I'm not too bothered.

Up until being lumbered with Windows 7, I had all my pictures in folders that related to what was in them - Harry 2008, Harry 2009, Holiday 2009 etc.

I know I'm sad but the problem with saving them to the date I took them is I can never remember when that was!

Depends on the subject but I would probably put something like 'Lyme Regis 2009' for one lot of holidays and then make a different folder for the next one.
