Another mile stone. Today I received my Nationwide credit card not 30% BUT A GREAT 12% APR. I hear of IVA guys going for cards with higher rates to build up your credit rating. You don't need to do this after your IVA complete. Just clean up your credit files from all 3 CRA. You can then apply. They said what a great credit rating. If only they knew. I am scared to use it. I have leant so much and will have it for that emergencies.[:)]

Thanks for the post markiboy.
Ive made my final payment at the beginning sept so once ive got my cc I will need to think about what to do re an emergency card. I dont want to build up a balance but would like to restore my status and have one for going abroad etc.

Theres been a couple of posts recently recommend stay away from the credit rebuilding cards so im seriously thinking about wait till the 6 yr mark before applying. how long after the 6 yrs did u apply ?

Hi markiboy

I was with Nationwide during my IVA & like you they gave me a creditcard earlier this year; ive also just borrowed money for a new boiler from them

it feels great to have come throught the IVA and have credit restored; dont get me wrong , i learned a huge lesson , have only used the credit card for to pay for holiday and then paid it off as its int free till next year.

ive already set up a standing order on top of my loan repayment DD , in order to pay the loan off sooner. Im far more responsible now but equally , credit now scares me and hopefully i will never get into the mess i did before.

Good luck and best wishes from a fellow satisfied nationwide customer

Well done on receiving your card. I do think the Vanquis card has its place on the market and so long as the balance is paid in full the interest rate is irrespective really. However, I can see your point that if we were to wait we'd get a high street card. All the best for your debt free future.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I agree Lesley ...Vanquis is helping us to improve our credit ratings. Looking forward to next week when all the defaults and IVA drop off.

Hi markiboy, Good to hear that you've got yourself sorted out!.. when did you complete your iva? and did you apply on line?. I put a post on here recently asking if anyone had applied to Nationwide pro IVA as I was thinking of applying to them myself as they were not a creditor of mine. however feel a little scared of doing it!!

I got my CC in Feb 6 years was up in June from June till Aug cleaned up my files. Got my card yesterday. I agree higher interest cards have its places but if you have done your 6 years then take advantage of the deals. 12% 12 months free interest then grab with both hands. Like a lot on here who have struggled and like me my fault. But Im free of debt and its so nice to have that choice again. FREE!!!!

Hi again, another couple of questions for you..
Did you open a savings account as well or was it just the credit card you applied for? was it in a branch or on line?. Also the biggest question, I know with Nationwide the very first question they ask is about bankruptcy and ivas!!.. Did you avoid the question?
(sorry for the questions but feel I would like to apply too but don't want to mess it up!
Thanks.

Hi stp
I applied pre iva and they asked me are you in an iva so the answer was no and this would be the same post cc.
If its have you ever been in iva then its yes so answer carefully and good luck. Hopefully they still ask are you. If you apply online then you can always exit any application before submit it.

No savings account. I upgraded from my basic account to Flex plus which then they asked do you want a credit card and as you have an excellent credit rating we can offer you a 12% credit card and for the first year 0% on purchases. No no question on Bankruptcy or IVA.
