So i jus got home from a lovely evening out...and i see a nice little pile of letters... and id been waiting for it...and there it was! my 1st debt collection letter.

Its from argos one of my letters. It says the companies name and in bold red letters says PRE COURT DIVISION. Hmmm and this means? anybody know?

It says i need to contact them in 7days to pay my full payment. to avoid further action. My DMP company vincent bond have referred me to an iva company as thats the directio im going in. And have said i can still contact them for anything as im yet to hear frm other company (it only got sent over yesterday so havent liased yet).

So just wondering if i should call myself of refer to VB. I do have an assertive manner on the phone but i know these horrible debt collection agencies can be mean!

So jus wondrin what would be best... heres to my sweetdreams bcomin nightmares![:(!]

hey s-star hope youre well.
i would forward this letter on to VB and ring them if you want to reassure yourself.
i have had loads of these letters -not argos
and like you was panicking like mad. i jumped on here and within minutes was re-assurred.
these companies like to put things like 'pre court division' because it has the desired effect on a lot of people. they start panicking, and it gets them to pay them pronto.
in reality and it took me ages to understand this it will cost them loads to send debt collectors/instigate court proceedings and obviously they would rather avoid this so they send letters to people with carefully chosen words as on yours or as on mine 'pre debt collector visit section ' to have the desired effect-more effective in cost and action.
hold your head high-youre getting things sorted ok-send this letter and any others to VB
in the meantime if it helps you could change your house number and filter it out just to your friends and family and anyone else you want to have it
you could say youve been getting too many stupid calls e.g double glazing etc.
the way to go now is upwards ok.
send that letter to VB and dont panic-things are getting sorted but it takes time. you know we are here for you ok [:)]

Fergie is right.

These are bully boy tactics designed to make you phone them and pay. Contact VB and tell them you have received this and ask what you should do with it.

It may be that they want you to send it to the IVA company.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the replies [8D]

i thought things were going too smoothly.. Im expecting to get a call frm The guy who is going to handle my case in the next few days. in the meantime, ive emailed VB about the letter. Its so difficult to liase with people when your at work and cant use the phone... im trying not to think about it really, and from reading all the advice on this forum, it gives me peace of mind!

i feel to ring them and shout at them and give them a peace of my mind as they KNOW the situation, but obviously that wont help! they wil probably be out to get me more! how do they sleep at night eh?!!

but then the flipside is...someone has to do their jobs..! Buy whhhyyyy do such a job! oh well.. there is my earli afternoon rant at work..! better get bakc to the grind..!

I'm sure you feel much better for getting it off your chest!

It won't make a lot of difference if you do rant at them - they have a set script they have to stick to and they will probably talk over you, the foreign call centres are the best becuase they just cannot cope with anything other than the answers they have been told to expect!

Hopefully VB will email you back and tell you what to do with the letter.

Bear in mind S-Star that the bulk of these letters are computer generated. Most come from the collections arm of the banks and use frightening language but as FD says their bark is bigger than their bite.

Advise Vincent Bond of what you receive and if it is important they can deal with it but if it is junk mail they can tell you to put it in the bin.

Hello![8D]

the company is called Moorcroft, i just checked the letter! are they usually legit or a load of rubbish? hmmm...

The IVA company representing me called today so had 1st contact, with our proper telephone conversation being tomorrow when he has looked over my case.

He has said to send all cporrespondance to him now, as VB passed case to them. So ill be sending it to him once he sends some info out to me.

Another question while on the subject of all this, VB mentioned that as it could take quite a few weeks for iVA to be approved (if it is!), that i could make token payments when i get paid on 11th march going by the financial statement they initially provided for my old DMP, i could make token Payments. But the company dealing with the IVA have said that i should seize making payments, incase creditors thought i was being fair to some of them but not others once the creditors meetings happen.

What have others done if in this situation? becasue i havent made payments for a few months as they went towards 1st 2 payemnts for DMP/now IVA......

We were in a DMP initially, and once we started down the IVA route, we ceased making payments to the DMP on the recommendation of the company. OK, we got letters from the creditors, but it was only for a matter of weeks.

We used the money we saved to fund our first IVA payment and to build up a little contingency money.

Moorcroft sent me quite a few letters, all with different department names, pre-court division, pre sending the heavys round etc. Just used as a scare tactic, nothing ever came from their threats. They are a legit debt collection company, but wouldn't worry about them, just tell them you're applying for an IVA and hang up on them.

Exactly.

They will try anything to try and get money out of you.

Don't be bullied into paying any.

Oh ok wel thats interesting to know about Moorcrofts.. i guess ill most probably hear frm the again soon!

I just got a bit worried about making Not makin token paymnts next months as they havent recieved payments from me for 3 months already... I guess it was a case of doing it for my peace of mind. But Maybe im best holding tight and just passing on everything to the IVA firm dealing with the case.

The others are right. Making DMP payments at this time will have no effect on the outcome of your IVA. You could use the money to have your car serviced to cut down on maintenance, replace an aging piece of white goods or buy next years school uniforms. It should only be for a month or so but small things like this help the IVA to run it's course.
