Hi,
I have just recieved a 3% pay rise at work, but this doesn't push me over the 10% I'm allowed to earn before paying 50% of extra earned money....does this mean I have to declair this?

Thanks

I would say that as this is a payrise, and not overtime or bonus, that you would need to declare it to your IP.

The best thing to do is to discuss this with your IP, as there may be specific provisions to deal with this - it seems unlikely, however, that you will have to hand over any of your payrise.

If it is inflationary payrise increase then you ought to keep it. Even if it is not with Food/energy inflation UP no IP will take that from you.....you can't be spending less on anything as everthing has gone up.

Could you not take a couple of days holiday instead Connie so that you don't lose your pay?

That's a bit mean. You could always throw a sickie, but that would look a bit dodgy!

At the risk of possibly offending anyone out there, I would not go out on strike. We have had a couple of strikes since I have been in my present position, and I have gone in to work on every occasion.

I cannot possibly afford to lose any pay, particularly as I am in my IVA and things are tight.

I am fortunate though in as much as I would be allowed to take holiday if there was a strike. I couldn't do it last time as I had none left!

i know, its hard because i'm scared of what people will say if i don't strike but seriously 2 days wage is about £140 quid and thats like a weeks payment toward my IVA. i just can't afford to do it.

Is everyone in your office going to be going on strike? I am sure you won't be the only person in there crossing the picket line.
