Hi there been a while since I have been on. 4 months since completion date but still no completion certififcate. My question is can anyone recommend a current account with a cheque book. I have a basic nationwide account at the minute and reading on various web-sites there is no chance that I can upgrade. My problem is that I am about to take up my next job within the Armed Forces. It is quite a senior position within the organisation I will be working for and I need to make a once a month payment by cheque when I am away from home for long periods. As you can imagine being in a senior position it will be a bit embarrasing for myself if I need to make alternative arrangements. Can anyone recommend a basic account that will give me a cheque book. Not worried about debit card as I have a pre-paid M/C. Any advise would be most appreicated.

Hi Jack,

Sorry no one has answered this one, it seems to have got lost way down the queue!

Have you tried the Co-op? You might be able to get one with them. I am sure someone on here will know of others, so hang in there and I've bumped this one back up.

The Co-op looks your best bet

The abbey do a couple of accounts as well. It might depend on just how good/bad your credit rating is.
