Have hardly started yet, as we are trying to conserve every penny until we know what is happenning with our proposal.

Think i will be paying quite a few vistis to the 99p/£1 shops though this year!!xx

Havent even thought about it yet, but this will be the first Christmas I can remember where I have to think about where the money is coming from for presents - it was always running around like a lunatic on Xmas eve armed with a stack of credit cards up to now! No more of that from now on. I'm lucky that my kids still believe in Santa, so if I tell them that they have been naughty this year, that gets me off the hook for buying any presents.

Hi All

Not yet started and not looking forward to starting, we do not have an IVA but are stuck in DMP world for 500 years?. We will if we do buy presents be looking at the cheaper end of the market. May be just gift vouchers and lo cost gifts.

Good luck to all of you with your gift hunting, you never know we may find some bargains with the state of the economy right now.

Regards

John[:o)]

I even had to cut back on my "penny for the guy" donations this year.

And whilst we are on the subject, since when did a cuddly elephant dressed in a football shirt constitute a "guy"? Whats happened to the old fashioned method of constructing one out of your dads old clothes, a stack of old newspapers and a burst "trophy" football with a face drawn on it?? And have you ever tried giving one of the little tykes an actual penny for their guy? You need a pocketful of cash just to get along the high street alive in November these days...[;)]

We start buying them in June and i think we have one left to buy now.

We have also started telling my family, lets not buy for adults any more just for children.

[:D][:D] Uptomyneck, you make me laugh! Nearly done all mine, got all really cheap stuff from ebay, meaningful and fun. I bought all the wrapping paper and cards last year in the sale so I'm sorted there too. Just got to find out who's doing dinner this year. Hopefully my brother so we don't have to spend anything.[;)] Otherwise, just four of us, so no real panic. As long as there is a turkey and chocolates.[:p]

Love your posts, UpToMyNeck, have you thought of telling the kids Santa has been caught up in the credit crunch? Not sure how the global recession has hit Lapland, but Iceland are getting it in the neck and its pretty cold there!
We had some kids last night with a guy wearing a Gordon Brown mask - is this another stealth tax?

Not sure that will wash with them John tbh mate. My daughter asked for a pony, and there was me thinking she meant one of the "My Little... " variety. But no, a real life one with a pulse was what she meant. Like that's going to happen. I will try and get an adoption certificate for an abandoned one somewhere, that will have to do for now until I win the lottery, or Everton win the league and I go nuts to celebrate. Neither of which is likely to happen in the near future though! [:D]
