Hi everybody.
I joint the forum last week because the previous week my husband found out I had £31000 worth of debt. You can image what I have been going through. We approached deptmatters and they adviced me to go for an iva.On tuesday somebody came to collect all my paperwork and they said they will contact me next wednesday after they have looked at my paperwork to see if I would be eligable for a iva.Things have been very hard at home and in fact my husband chucked me out of the house on wednesday but after meeting up again and having a very good chat he relised that this was a stupid thing to have done. because we would both end up with nothing and the only people who would suffer would be our to young children. I don't know what is going to happen with the iva or what will happen if it gets turn down. but we will cross that bridge when we come to it. But I just feel I wanted to write this because there proberly is a lot of people out there in my situation.and like me 2 weeks ago I was thinking of killing myself but 2 weeks on the future looks brighter.
Thank you all for your support I will Keep all informed of the outcome and good luck to everybody that is in the same situation.

Hi Bontom, I'm glad that you are feeling a bit better, and that you and your husband have managed to sort things out - your health and your relationship are so much more important than the money you owe.

Good luck with your IVA, and please do keep posting as your experiences will help other people x

Onwards and upwards!!!

Hi Bontom
Glad to hear you are feeling better about things you have had a rough week At least everything is out in the open now and things can only get better. Also even if an IVA is not suitable for you there will be a solution to your debt problems and you are getting help. All the best to you

Good luck Bontom, very sorry you have had to go through all of that. I am sure that the IVA will work out for you. I felt the same when I realised that my debts were out of control and those were some of the bleakest times I have experienced with creditors on my back, rent arrears etc. It was awful. My mum didnt know the full extent of my debts but she was very supportive when she realised how much I owed, which was 29K. I am in my second year now and yes it is tough, but it makes you prioritise your money, and apart from a mortgage, I do not ever want to use credit again.

Keep your chin up, the IVA will work out. I am just pleased that you feel better now about your situation. Keep posting, the forum members are pretty supportive
