I suppose I am lucky in that resepect that even though my Rangie has a BMW engine in it and everthing seems to be electronics or pumps, I am able to do quite a bit myself on it and the parts are plentyful and cheapish and I also have an independant specialist close by at £45+VAT per hour labour.

Hi All,

Update: Got my car back today and the bill was for £1187 inc vat!

I was worried about paying the bill, and the garage wanted it paid over 3 months, (£395 apx) But my Nan located some funds and has offered to pay this up front for me, so I have to pay her back over the next 6 months at £200 apx - which is almost half of what they had planned to accept.

I am so grateful that my Nan has been able to help us, and 6 months of really scraping but that is life !
