In an ideal world we would all spend time with our family's, but surely Christmas Eve, Christmas and Boxing Day and New Years Eve and Day is enough? Everywhere else is open in between those times, why not IP companies? Debt problems don't take a break and I do think almost two weeks without being able to contact someone is bad.

Bad - that is puting it mildly - I am only so pleased you know your way around so were not too worried about your hic-cup with them. Melanie makes herself available anytime - your debt people should have had an on call official around.
Quite agree , someone should have been there - even a skeleton staff is preferable to none.

I get far too many holidays from work and now I've been forced to book them today, I've now got a week off in Apri, May, June, July and August! I didn't want/need any of them but if I don't use them I'll lose them! Madness in the teaching world.
In September we're allocated next academic years leave and I'll struggle to take them all again!
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
I feel I do Skippy, hubby only gets 4 weeks per year so it's ok having them all but I'm all alone when I have them so it's not fun and I'm useless at entertaining myself, I mostly end up eating and moaning I'm bored!

I get 34 days plus public holidays. I would be very happy with a lot more - in fact I would be quite happy if I could retire!

I hate having to go to work! My job is quite stressful and I'm at the age now where I could do without the hassle!

I get 28 days holiday a year working for Royal Mail and very much like my job as it keeps me active and keeps me going on with a positive outlook, and I would hate to retire at 65 as I see that far too many people just 'peg out' within 2 years of retirement due to the sudden change of lifestyle, lack of activity and too much time on their hands, and unless we have plenty of money & hobbies (or a hectoring wife to keep us busy!)I see retirement as a graveyard! Luckily, the RM allow staff to work beyond 65 if they can prove that they are still fit and able,so I really hope to continue until I am 70 at least!
I would far rather retire in the next few years while I am still active, and I am pushing for that. Can't come quick enough for me.
Hubby was medically retired from the Police in late 1994. He loves being a house husband and he's still going! Plus I don't nag him or vice versa![:D]
Once I retire, we fully intend to sell up and move somewhere warm. certainly don't see retirement as a graveyard - gives me a chance to spend time with hubby and also do things I don't always have time to do at the moment.

Good for you then Jan to have it all mapped out for your future but I would worry about early retirement myself as greater numbers of people are living well into their 80's and 90's nowadays and will your pension pot be large enough to live comfortably ever after? (That's assuming that you are a not a Banker!)
