Hi All

I havent posted on here for a while but have been trying to read posts when I can. I need some advice on what to do with regards to teh following. My situation is that I am currently in an IVA at the moment and have made most of the payments I am a little bit of arrears but have aranged something with my IP to pay these off. I need some advice / answers on the following questions.

Annual Review.
I am due to have my first review now and have been sent the expenses sheet to fill in. On the covering letter it says that if any of your expenses have increased you will need to prove this. I can prove things like my council tax going up but how do you prove the rise in gas and electric and things like petrol as I tend to pay for these things in cash so do not have a receipt? Obvisouly everyone knows the that these costs have gone up but How do I prove this?

Bank Charges.
Long before I entered into an IVA I asked a company to process my claim for bank charges. Obvisuly with the courts ruling it was on hold until now and my bank has made an offer to me and offered to send the cheque to my IP. I have no problem with this except that the company who processed the claim want more than the offer and will invoice me for their commission and I cant pay for this beacuse my IP will have the money and so basically I have been left in a situation where I cant accept the banks offer as the claims company want more to cover their costs and even if I the claims company press for the full amount in court the cheque will still go to my IP and I will still be left with the bill so I will be worse off than if I didnt claim at all. Would my IP be willing to pay the money to pay the clams company invoice?

Car Failed its MOT what to do now?
My girlfriends car failed its MOT badly over the weekend. It will be very costly to the tune of £800 to repair the car and so we are stuck bewteen paying for the work or do we try to get a new car. We obvisouly dont have £800 spare and dont have anyone to lend us that sort of money. My girlfriend is not in an IVA but has a default against her name for a credit card so we cant get finance for another car. Can anyone advise me on what to do as she needs a car to get to work?? I have not yet paid my IVA for this month do you think my IP would be willing to let us use this to get a run around?? Please advise?
Sorry for the long thread its just all seem to have gone wrong at the same time. Look forward to your advice.

Hi Adam, sounds like you're having a rough time of it. Can't answer all your questions, but with regards to the annual review, you will still get a gas/electric bill I presume, even after paying cash? Or are you in rented accomodation? The bill will prove how much more you are paying.

As for the petrol, I'm afraid it's just a matter of keeping your receipts for the next month so you can prove your outgoings, you still get a receipt for cash. At the worst, you would know roughly how much a litre fuel has gone up since you started your IVA, this should be able to tell you how much more you are paying a month.

I don't know if this has been much help, but you may have to start using your card more so you can prove the increases with your bank statements. Every company is different with their views on I & E, just out of interest, who are you with?
IVA completed April 2013

Hi Beans on Toast
Thank you for the reply.
We live in rented accomodation and do receive a bill with our name on so I guess I will have to find them. Thanks for the advice on the petrol will try to work it out. I am afraid I cant use my card for purchases as I only have a cash card account so can make purchases with the card.
My IP is Accuma and they have been wonderful to be honest and would highly recomend them.

One default shouldnt stop your girlfriend from getting a car loan, but you will need to do it through a specialist lender.

Some lenders are listed on this site under the car finance section.

Hi There,
I just posted a car related subject - hope that may help. I changed bank to the Co-operative and they have been super, I have a sa electron card which works in most places - although strangely not Morrisons supermarket. If you also look on Martin Lewis's (GMTV Expert) website he goes on a lot about the rise in the cost of living - maybe you could use some of that information to prove the rises you are struggling to cope with?
Don't know if that will help, I'm a novice at this but beomming and expert on coping with the daily strugles of life in an IVA!!
Hugs to you both,
Chardonnay

Hi When our car head gasket blew in Feb 2008 ,we didnt know quite what to do .Like you we couldnt afford the £600 to fix .After speaking to my big brother (who luckily is a mechanic)we decided to scrap the car at scrap yard , and we got £185 for it scrap. Then we cashed in the remaining tax £80 (as we had only just taxed it) and we went on ebay .Found a m reg ford mondeo ,close to home ,and got it for £260 .Yeah it aint a gorgeous beast ,but it gets my hubby to work and back .Luckily we havent had any problems with it and its mot does not run out till Nov 08 .We had no option but to do it this way we had no contingency saved up as we had only just started our ivas in Jan 08 and we definitely needed another car for hubbys work as he works 8 miles out of town and unsociable hours .Just thought this might be another option for you .Good luck Rachel and Darren
We have a co operative account visa electron Chardonnay also and we can use ours in Morrisons where we live i wonder why you cant ? .
